Contractions

Phonics Lesson
What is a contraction?
When we put air into a balloon, it
expands. When we let the air out, it
contracts. Picture this when you
think about what a contraction is in
English.
A CONTRACTION IS A
WORD THAT IS A
SHORTENED FORM OF
TWO WORDS PUT
TOGETHER.
1. We take two words
2. Take some letters out
3. Put in an apostrophe
4. Make them contract into one
smaller word.
