HUB YEAR END 2021

Praise and thanksgiving to God our Father and Jesus Christ. The Altoona District Mission Central HUB an extension of
Mission Central in Mechanicsburg has another year of working here and around the world. What a difference a year
makes. The HUB was affected again this year with covid issues but not as much as 2020.

We are in our 14th year of helping support anyone that has been affected by disasters or poverty. Some of our kits that
are prepared and shipped from our HUB go through Mission Central in Mechanicsburg and then onto UMCOR or
distributed directly from Mission Central.

The HUB has had 514 volunteers with a total of 1040 hours this past year. Again we were closed periodically due to
covid; however these numbers are very close to pre=pandemic numbers.

Our kits that were ship to Mission Central this year are as follows: 41 cleaning buckets, 165 baby care kits, 838 school
kits, 919 hygiene kits, these have an accumulated estimated value of $28,271. The estimated totals of miscellaneous
supplies sent to MC are $7,790.00. Local distributions of different items have an estimated value of $5,730. We had 131
quilts at a value of $6,550. The grand total 2021 is $48,341.; this added to our previous total of $822,633; makes our
contributions $870974.

If anyone or group would like to complete any of the above kits info can be found at missioncentral.org and drop them
off at the HUB. Kits sent to UMCOR: School kits, hygiene kits, and cleaning buckets.

Nonstandard kits are also important to our mission work. We have distributed to 117 different ministries. Some of the
places that benefited are shelters, nursing homes, churches, the food kitchen and church programs. Our help
supporting the different homeless ministries has increased.

Our annual July fundraiser of blueberries netted 1,338 boxes; up from last year. Even with more groups selling these
same blueberries we still did well. The proceeds netted a total of $12,397; we were able to tithe $1,400.00 to MC.

Our HUB, as you know, works as a local division of Mission Central. The advanced number for donations to the
Conference is #8235; this will be used to send donations directed to our local HUB through the conference.

We are praying in 2022 that we will be able to get back to normal hours and hosting groups’ consistently. Along with
volunteers making kits come the need for more supplies. We are blessed to and encourage monetary donations and
supply donations to help us. Gail Montgomery is anxiously waiting to schedule your volunteering visit.

A sincere thank you to the HUB team and all the volunteers. Our hostesses and volunteers would like to make a special
thank you as always to Barbara Glass, Site coordinator and Gail Montgomery, volunteer coordinator for all the dedicated
and extras work they do to keep this ministry open. In 2021 Barbara announced she will be stepping down as site
coordinator in May, 2022. She would like to pursue other volunteer opportunities and will have put in 15years at the
Altoona HUB. Replacing her will not be an easy task. Thanks to all our churches, groups and individuals for the
continued prayers and support for the work of the HUB.

Together we seek to serve God’s children with needs. We continue to be truly blessed in this ministry and God continues
to open doors for us.
