01 INTRODUCTION
SAPONIFICATION
Soaps is the process of
creating soap.

Ester interacts with an


inorganic base to create
alcohol and soap during
saponification.
METHODOLOGY 02
MATERIALS

● Soap base (500g)


● Water
● Measuring cup
● Cooking pot
● Mixing bowl
● Stir rod
● Coffee grounds
● Essential oil/s
● Molding tray
● Rubbing Alcohol
PROCEDURES
1. Boil 500 ml of water.
2. Place the mixing bowl
on top of the pot for
double boiling, and let the
soap base melt. Stir it
afterwards.
1st TRY

With sakura essential oil

Materials:

● 140 g soap base


● 3-4 drops sakura essential
oil
● ¾ teaspoon coffee
grounds
3. Add coffee grounds and
drop of sakura essential
oil. Stir the soap base
afterwards and put it in
the molding tray.

Don’t forget to spray rubbing alcohol in the soap base after putting it in the molding tray.
2nd TRY

With bamboo essential oil

Materials:

● 180 g soap base


● 4-5 drops bamboo
essential oil
● 1 ¼ teaspoon coffee
grounds
4. Repeat the same
process but this time, use
bamboo essential oil.

Don’t forget to spray rubbing alcohol in the soap base after putting it in the molding tray.
3rd TRY

With pure coffee

Materials:

● 200 g soap base


● 1 ¼ teaspoon coffee
grounds
5. Repeat the same
process but this time, use
coffee grounds only.

Don’t forget to spray rubbing alcohol in the soap base after putting it in the molding tray.
NOTE:
The final outputs did not necessarily need to be
refrigerated as they dried so fast at room
temperature.

1ST Sakura 4-5 mins Baby scent

2ND Bamboo 7-8 mins Not too fragrant

3RD Coffee (no oil) 7-8 mins Coffee scent


SAPONIFICATION REACTIONS

By mixing fats, oils, or lipids (the acid) with sodium hydroxide, the procedure
converts them into soap (the base).

Soaps made out of coffee grounds have several benefits
to our bodies.
