 English is known as the common language for conveying
instructions both between the crew and crew of the ship and between
different ships. The English language used by the crew and crew uses the
rules of SMCP (Standard Maritime Communication Phrases). SMCP itself
is very important for sailors because it is used in every activity on
board. For example; used for communication, application to the use of
navigational tools, application of signals when in dangerous
circumstances, etc. Thus, it is required for the crew and crew of the ship to
master the SMCP. To help to better understand, of course, the need for
supporting facilities. Facilities provided so that sailors can master SMCP.
 English is an international language. In the present it can be
seen how important it is to learn English. English exists in many
different fields. One of them is in the maritime field. English is
important in the maritime field for several reasons. First, when
communicating on a large ship of course we are required to use
English. Second, when there is an emergency on board, of course,
the need for response. If you do not speak English, it will be difficult to
understand the situation that is happening around you. Third, at the
time of going to dock at the port must report to the port station at the
port. Fourth, English is also used in communicating with other flagged
ships. In its application in the field of maritime English has its own
rules.
 Sailors are equipped with a variety of competencies and
expertise. These competencies can be possessed when cadets follow
training training. Later when finished following the cadet training training
will get a certificate that indicates that it has gained the skills and skills to
perform certain tasks and functions on the ship. One of his competencies
is as a navigation officer in the ocean region. The importance of
navigation when later in the middle of the sea which of course must be
understood by sailors. Both navigation uses navigation tools and uses
astrology and manual tools when modern navigation tools cannot
function. Also responsible for supervising and monitoring any maritime
cargo on board, as well as ensuring maintenance of the deck and upper
hull structure, monitoring the stability of the ship including loading and
discharging ballast water, carriying out mooring operations and finally
anchoring a ship. These competencies will help the deck officer on board
to maintain and handle shipping activities.
 Cargo handling is one of the competencies needed in
shipping activities. This activity is a service activity to the load that
requires high attention. The load requires proper supervision and
handling so that there is no damage or things that can harm the
environment and humans. The payload itself has several types in its
storage. So, it really must be considered in accordance with the
level of handling.
 When on board the sailors must be able to keep
themselves in good condition. Sailors are required to know
the function and use of safety equipment. Safety equipment
will be needed in the event of a disaster or dangerous
situation on board. The sailors must be quick to respond in
understanding the situation that occurred on the ship.
 Graduates of aeronautical studies mostly have job
prospect plans as captains or deck officers. My own plan
when I graduated from college would be to continue my
studies to a higher level in accordance with my current
studies. If for example later there are things that are not
possible to continue my studies will work in the field of loading
and unloading or customs. Because I think working in that field
is exciting and has a lot of opportunities. I hope to help the
company get better.
 The conclusion is for sailors are required to be able to master
english. The sailors are expected to speak English. Because, English is
the language that will be used when on board both to talk to his
colleagues and with other countries' ships. Mastering SMCP is also
important for sailors to make it easier to communicate. Sailors must have
sufficient competence in order to carry and guard the ship. The
competence will help the sailors on board. Because everything will be held
by the sailors themselves. Sailors must also understand how to keep the
ship and itself in good condition. Carry out cargo handling with care and
supervision so that no accidents occur. Finally, try to make the desire that
