1. In his book ‘The 100 - A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History’, M. H.
Hart named Prophet Muhammed as his first choice. From your reading, what was
Hart’s arguments for choosing him?

2. The Koran (Qur’an) is the book from God. Explain the vital roles of the Koran in
promoting the search for knowledge among Muslims.

3. The beginnings of Hindu philosophy are found in three basic texts. Briefly explain the
THREE (3) texts.

4. Gotama in his last sermon the Four Noble Truths claimed that “the cause of (life)
suffering is desire”. Offer TWO (2) criticisms of his statements.

5. Confucius believed that human are social beings who have the abiltity to change
others’ moral values. He encouraged his followers to criticise a ruler if he is unjust.
Briefly explain his Five Constant Virtues, a guideline for rulers to govern his people.

6. Both Confucianism and Taonism are the major Chinese thoughts. What are the
differences between Confucianism and Taoism?

7. Briefly describe the history of the teachings of Christianity and its relationship with
Jesus Christ, Roman Catholics, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox, Jewish, Jerusalem
and the Bible.

What were his contributions to the Christian education.

are basically religions. Describe what are the differences seen in the philosophical
ideas of the two worlds.

"Education in Malaysia is an on-going effort towards further developing the


potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner, so as to produce
individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically
balanced and harmonic, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such an
effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable and
competent, who possess high moral standards and who are responsible and
capable of achieving high level of personal well-being as well as being able to
contribute to the harmony and betterment of the family, the society and the
nation at large"

1. The above is the National Education Philosophy (NEP) of Malaysia. By taking the
NEP as the guideline, discuss THREE (3) ways how schools can help keep the
integration between the various racial groups in the country.

Wawasan 2020 or Vision 2020 is a call for Malaysians to achieve a self-sufficient


industrialized nation in all aspects by the year 2020. In achieving it, Tun Dr Mahathir
Mohamad the former Prime Minister who introduced it has outlined 9 challenges to the
people:

Challenge 1: Establishing a united Malaysian nation made up of one Bangsa


Malaysia (Malaysian Race). Challenge 2: Creating a psychologically liberated,
secure and developed Malaysian society. Challenge 3: Fostering and
developing a mature democratic society. Challenge 4: Establishing a fully
moral and ethical society. Challenge 5: Establishing a matured liberal and
tolerant society. Challenge 6: Establishing a scientific and progressive society.
Challenge 7: Establishing a fully caring society. Challenge 8: Ensuring an
economically just society, in which there is a fair and equitable distribution of
the wealth of the nation. Challenge 9: Establishing a prosperous society with
an economy that is fully competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient.

2. As future teacher, describe in detail THREE (3) methods of instruction which you can
employ in your classroom in taking up the challenges to help realising Vision 2020.
Also, describe your role as a teacher in those situations.
