Discussion
Water sports are always fun filled. The thrill of enjoying the deep blue water, cool
wind blowing in your hair and the adrenaline rush you get while doing the sport can be
exciting. Some can be dangerous or extreme, while some can be relaxing and
energizing. But one thing is for sure, whether it’s for leisure or for competition, it has
universal appeal.
Rowing is a sport in which athletes compete while riding in boats on the ocean, river
or lakes. It involves propelling a boat using oars. It can either be recreational, for fitness
or competitive, where athletes team up in boats and race against each other.
A team sport includes any sport where individuals are organized into
opposing teams which compete to win. Team members act together towards a shared
objective. This can be done in a number of ways such as outscoring the opposing team.
Team members set goals, make decisions, communicate, manage conflict, and solve
problems in a supportive, trusting atmosphere in order to accomplish their objectives.
Team sports are practiced between opposing teams, where the players generally
interact directly and simultaneously between them to achieve an objective. The objective
often involves teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar object in
accordance with a set of rules, in order to score points. The meaning of a "team sport"
has been disputed in recent years. Some types of sports have different objectives or
rules than "traditional" team sports. These types of team sports do not involve
teammates facilitating the movement of a ball or similar item in accordance with a set of

• From the outset once a swimmer in difficulty is spotted, eye contact must be maintained
at all times.
• Assess the situation: environment, available physical equipment, others who can help,
etc.
• Attempt to establish voice contact, which if successful can often result in a "voice-
rescue."
• A rescuer should enter the water only as a last resort.
• Rescues should be attempted in the following order: talk, throw, reach, wade, row,
swim, tow and carry.

Water polo is a competitive team sport played in the water between two teams.
The game consists of four quarters in which the two teams attempt to score goals by
throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. Also called football in the water, water polo
is an energetic sport in which players must swim and defend the ball to try to score in the
opponent’s goal. It’s played by teams of seven with a buoyant ball that looks like a soccer
ball. But it’s more like soccer and basketball and handball rather than polo. It’s intense and
competitive, and it’s one of the oldest Olympic events. It involves a full body workout,
rigorous gameplay and a lot of strategies.

A game of water polo mainly consists of the players swimming to move about the
pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the
goal. Teamwork, tactical thinking and awareness are also highly important aspects in
a game of water polo

.4 Canoe polo, also known as Kayak polo, is one of the competitive disciplines of kayaking,
known simply as "polo" by its aficionados. Polo combines boating and ball handling skills
with a contact team game, where tactics and positional play are as important as the speed
and fitness of the individual athletes. Canoeing is distinguished from kayaking, as this sport
uses a single-bladed paddle instead of double. Also, in canoes, the paddler either sits on a
raised seat or kneels on the bottom of the boat. Canoeing can be done individually or with a
group in rivers, lakes, ocean or even water parks. It can either be relaxing or adventurous
depending on the type of water you do you’re canoeing on.

2.6 Sport diving is an underwater sport that uses recreational open circuit scuba
diving equipment and consists of a set of individual and team events conducted in
a swimming pool that test the competitors' competency in recreational scuba diving
techniques.
The international rules of competition contain the following four objectives for Sport
Diving - firstly, encourage the further development of recreational scuba diving equipment
and technique; secondly, promote scuba diving activities in localities that are remote from
suitable diving sites or where open water activity may be prohibited by seasonal or adverse
weather conditions; thirdly, to provide an opportunity for recreational scuba divers to

2.7 Underwater football is a two-team underwater sport that shares common elements
with underwater hockey and underwater rugby. As with both of those games, it is played in
a swimming pool with snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel, and fins).
Underwater football was developed in the 1960s by Dave Murdoch, a scuba diving
instructor who was teaching in the Manitoba's Frank Kennedy Centre. The game developed
from a "keep-away" training exercise that used a pool brick to develop the students
snorkeling skills. It is still played there today.

2.9 Rowing is a sport in which athletes compete while riding in boats on the ocean, river or
lakes. It involves propelling a boat using oars. It can either be recreational, for fitness or
competitive, where athletes team up in boats and race against each other. The force of the
racers on the oar blades as they row propels the boat forward. The capacity of boats in
which athletes compete varies, ranging from an individual shell to an eight-person shell.
Rowing is also one of the oldest sports included in Olympics. Rowing, sometimes referred to
as crew in the United States, is a sport whose origins reach back to Ancient Egyptian times.
It involves propelling a boat (racing shell) on water using oars. By pushing against the water
with an oar, a force is generated to move the boat.
