CHECKLIST FOR CNC - From Drawing To Cutting
STEP NAME
The Torchmate CAD/CAM will accept '.dxf' file format from AutoCAD.
However there are several accepted file formats which can be seen in
the Torchmate CAD/CAM software when you select File > Import…
TO CREATE AN ERROR FREE G-CODE:
STEP NAME
Set Size of Material
Draw Cut Part/Import .dxf file from AutoCAD
Set Cut DWG to Edge of Plate Limits
Ensure Cut Parts fall within Sheet
Create Path for Cutting Tool in the Software
(Breaking a Path is the reverse of Creating a Path)
Creating the Tool Path (Male/Female)
Set Thickness of Material
Basic Cut Settings
Lead In/Out
Move to Bottom left hand point
CONVERT TO G-CODE
CUT TO SAVE AS '.gm' FILE
STEPS IN SOFTWARE
Layout > Material Size
File > Import
Drag to the corner until pink highlights show up
Select all Cut Paths, Then Machine > Create Tool Path > 'MALE'
Male - Cut begins outside of the defined Cut Parts, leaving no marks from the intial cut point
Female - Cut begins inside the defined Cut Parts
This helps to identify and compensate for the kerf width of the cutter
To keep the part edges uniform, since the initial cut will have a bigger kerf width
To econimize sheet space

Ensure all cables connected
Turn on Accumove
Then Turn On PC
Switch to Admin user
Set Limits of motors
Click datum
In Job Setup Tab, move torch to T.O.W., then click "SET"
