POSITION ON THE SHIP

Crews are generally divided into 4 main categories, namely the deck department, engine department,
stewart department, and other departments. The main responsibility lies in the hands of the captain as
the leader of the cruise
positions in the deck department, including the captain, are the leader and person in charge of shipping,
The Chief Officer or Chief Mate is in charge of controlling the load, fresh water supply and as a
navigation direction controller ,The Second Officer or Second Mate is in charge of making a route map of
the shipping to be carried out and regulating navigation directions,The third officer or third mate is in
charge of regulating, inspecting, maintaining all ship safety equipment and also serving as a regulator of
navigation directions, The Radio Officer or Spark serves as a radio/communication operator and is
responsible for maintaining the safety of the ship from any harm caused by nature such as storms,
sinking ships, and others, boatswain (Head of subordinates) and Helmsman
positions in the engine management include Chief Engineer, leader and person in charge of all machines
on board the ship, be it main engine, auxiliary engine, pump engine, crane engine, lifeboat engine,
steering engine, freezer engine, etc. first Engineer in charge of main engine, second Engineer is
responsible for all auxiliary machines, third Engineer is responsible for all pumping machines, The
electrician is responsible for all machines that use electric power and all backup power, Foreman (Head
of Oiler and Wiper), Fitter or Welder, Oiler or Oilman
the stewart department including the cook or chef is responsible for all meals, be it cooking, setting food
menus, and food supplies,The waiter or mess boy is in charge of helping the cook
