Cascade Systems
Auto-cascade systems

In a two-stage auto-cascade system two different

working fluids; a low boiling point (low temperature)
refrigerant and a high boiling point (high
temperature) refrigerant are used.
The vapour mixture consisting of both these
refrigerants is compressed in the compressor to a
discharge pressure (P discharge). When this high
pressure mixture flows through the partial condenser,
the high temperature refrigerant can condense by
rejecting heat (Qc,out) to the external heat sink

These systems are widely used in the liquefaction of natural gas.
