WEEK NO.

TOPIC: Proper using of mouse in computer

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

At the end of the lesson the learners must able to:

1. Identify the basic parts of the computer mouse and its functions.

2. Apply the proper handling of mouse and use a computer mouse so that one is more

comfortable and efficient in using a computer.

Mouse

A mouse typically has two buttons: a primary button (usually the left button) and a
secondary button (usually the right button). The primary button is the one you will use most
often. Most mouse also include a scroll wheel between the buttons to help you scroll through
documents.

Holding the mouse

There is a proper technique for holding the mouse, allowing you to make use of all its features
while also feeling comfortable. Follow the directions below and learn how!

 Place your thumb on the desk or the tabletop on the left side of the mouse.

 Your index finger (pointer) should rest on the left button of the mouse.

 Place the middle finger on the right button of the mouse.

 Your ring finger and little finger (pinkie) should rest on the right side of
the mouse.

 Your palm should cup the end of the mouse gently.

 The base of your wrist should rest on the mouse pad or the desktop.

Here are some pictures to help demonstrate the correct used of mouse.

BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE MOUSE

RIGHT CLICK:

Sometimes abbreviated as RMB (right mouse button), the right-

click is the action of pressing down on the right mouse button. The
right-click provides additional functionality to a computer's mouse,
usually in the form of a drop-down menu (shortcut menu) containing
additional options.

LEFTCLICK:

Left-click is often referred to as “normal-click” or “regular-click.”

Most tasks on a computer can be accomplished solely by using the
left mouse button. Pressing the left mouse button seems to
simulate the mouse cursor being pressed down on the screen: you
can drag items or select text or open files.

DRAGGING

Dragging the mouse refers to moving its position while holding

the mouse button depressed. Dragging is used in the Plot window
to move text items and to move the plot itself within the Plot
window.
