A guest laundry service is a service provided by a hotel that washes and irons guests'
clothes. Also, a laundry services are available in almost all hotels. If you turn in your clothes
one day, you should get them back within a day or two. Your clothes will be washed, dried,
and ironed by the laundry service. A shirt can be cleaned and returned in two hours by a
laundry service.

In a laundry service in hotel, there are step by step procedure to be followed. First
step is the laundry assistant needs to visit the occupied rooms daily, or he may receive a
special laundry requests from the guests. Every personnel make sure they have the laundry
cleaning list; they need to knock on the guest room door and announce it as “Laundry”.
Before collecting the laundry, it must be check it for any damages and valuable items in the
pockets. Also, it needs to request the guest to fill in the cleaning list and give the specific
instructions such as the expected delivery time, request for ironing etc. The laundry clothes
need to be separated depending on the specific given by the guest. For the second step
which is the processing, after collecting the laundry from the guest it will be transfer to the
floor pantry and make sure to place the laundry list inside the laundry bags to
communicate with the laundry department. The third step is the billing, the laundry
assistant must ensure that the three copies of the bill are prepared, the first copy goes to
the front desk, the second copy goes to the accounts, and last the third copy goes to the
guest. The laundry assistant has to make sure to informs the housekeeping control desk
about the delivery. After that the laundry clothes will be delivered to the guest room, it will
be place it as per hotel standards and give the bill to the guest. In case the guest is not in the
room, he enters the room using the floor key and places the laundry in the room as per
hotel standards and the bill has placed along with the laundered clothes.

As a laundry assistant, you must ensure that all laundry services for hotel guests are
completed in accordance with standard policies and on time. Laundry collection from guest rooms,
dry-cleaning, washing, drying, pressing, and folding of guest laundry, as well as other hotel linen, are
also responsibilities. Also, you need to follow all the procedure to have a good and efficient service
with the guest.
