Enrollment Part 2: Internship Site Approval
Step 2: Your internship site has been approved!
Step 3 (Congratulations - you are at this step!): This email is your Email of Approval. You will need a copy
of this full email chain. You are now ready to complete Step 4, the Application to Enroll!
STOP! Before you fill out the Application to Enroll, please email the paragraph and the link below to your
site supervisor (you only need to do this if your site is NOT already on the Affiliated Sites List found on
our KINternship website).

NEW PROCESS FOR AFFILIATION AGREEMENTS BEGINNING MARCH 2018: Thank you for your interest in
becoming an Affiliated Site with the MSU Department of Kinesiology! As of March 2018, all sites are
required to complete this survey to become an affiliated site, including attaching an accurately
completed Affiliation Agreement. This process will repeat every three years. This means that if you had
completed an Affiliation Agreement BEFORE March 2018, you will need to complete this survey and
follow all steps below to continue to be an affiliated site.

Step 4: Complete the Application to Enroll in KIN 492 / 493
Instructions-

Click on the drop-down menu for ENROLLMENT PART 2 – Internship Site Approval
Scroll down to Step 4: Complete the Application to Enroll
Select the link for the appropriate semester.
Application Process- Keri Morrison will look over your application and once it is approved, she will
forward it to Michelle Hatta (hattamic@msu.edu). Michelle will enroll you in the class.
Step 5: It is your responsibility to check your schedule to make sure that your enrollment went through.
Please give us 3-5 business days from the time you submit your application until you are enrolled. If
your application is not complete, then your enrollment will be delayed until all required materials are
received!
NOTE: At least 80% of the internship work/hours completed by students must reflect the worthwhile
competencies of the broad-based field of Kinesiology (examples: Exercise, Fitness, Sport, Human
Movement, Therapeutic or Rehabilitation practices, Allied Health Professions, etc.). The decision as to
whether an internship or internship hours meet this requirement lies with the instructor of record for
the internship courses.

NOTE: If you intend to complete your internship in a state other than Michigan, please email Keri
Morrison right away! Certain states require a letter of intent that MUST be submitted by the
Department of Kinesiology and approved by both the internship coordinator and the Provost’s office 60
days in advance of the internship. Some states in the US do not allow us to have students complete
internships at all based on the duties being performed - especially clinical placements [PT, OT, Nursing,
etc].

NOTE: For the safety and security of all participants, effective August 29, 2018 the Michigan State
University KINternship program can no longer approve KIN 492/493 internship placements in locations
that do not provide professional supervision onsite (for example, private homes).

12. What will your specific job duties be?


To work with patients and assist the doctors with any needs such as equipment, or observing the
patients

13. Explain why this internship would be beneficial to you as you complete your Kinesiology degree?
I feel like this internship would be beneficial for me because it will allow me to gain more clinical
experience with the field I would ultimately want my career to be.
