Materials needed  
Worsted Weight Yarn size 4 no more than 1 skein (Lion Brand Vannas Choice yarn is pictured)  
Size I/5.5mm & H/5.0 mm crochet hook  
Tapestry needle to weave in ends  
Two 3/4-inch buttons for the hat
Two 1-inch buttons for the diaper cover
Small button for bow tie

Abbreviations  
Ch: chain  
St: stitch  
Sl: slip
Sk St: Skip Stitch  
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Hdc2tog: half double crochet 2 stitches together  
Dc: double crochet  
2Dc: Work 2 double crochet stitches in next stitch
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet  
 
Gauge:
Approximately 3 sts/inch (adjust your hook accordingly)

NOTE:  
The ch. 2 at the beginning of the rounds does not count as a dc stitch.
 
Hat- I/5.5mm hook  
Magic Circle

Round 1: Ch. 2. 10 dc inside of the magic circle. Join with a sl st to the first dc. Pull ring tight. (10 dc)
Round 2: Ch. 2. Make a dc in the same st as ch. 2. FPDC around the post of the same st. * Dc in the next st, FPDC in the post of
the same st. Repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (20 dc)
Round 3: Ch. 2. Make 2 Dc in same st as ch. 2. FPDC around the next fpdc. *2 dc in the next st, fpdc around the next fpdc; repeat
from * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch. 2. Dc in the same st, 2 dc in the next st. FPDC around the next fpdc. *dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st, fpdc
around the next fpdc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (40 dc)
Round 5: Ch. 2. Dc in the same st, dc in the next 2 sts. FPDC around the next fpdc. *dc in the next 3 sts, fpdc around the next
fpdc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (40 dc)
Round 6: Ch. 2. Sk the next st. Dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st. FPDC around the next fpdc. *sk the next st, dc in the next st, 2
dc in the next st, fpdc around the next fpdc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (40 dc)
Round 7: Repeat Round 5
Round 8: Repeat Round 6
Round 9: Repeat Round 5
Round 10: Repeat Round 6
Switch to H/5.0mm hook
Round 11-12: Ch. 1, Sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (40 sc)

Do not fasten off but continue to work the brim portion.

Brim- H/5.0mm hook


Row 1: Ch. 1, 2 sc in the same st as ch. 1, sc in the next st. * 2 sc in the next st, sc in the next st; repeat from * for a total of 5 times,
sl st in the next 2 sts. Turn. (18 sts)
Row 2: Ch. 1, Sk the first sl st, hdc in the next sl st, hdc in the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in the next st, * hdc in the next 5 sts, 2 hdc in the next
st. Repeat from * until you have one st left. Hdc in the initial join st 2 rows down, sl st in the next 2 sts. (22 sts)
Finishing Round: Ch. 1. Sc in each st around the entire hat and brim. Join with a sl st to the first sc.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Weave in your ends.

Strap-H/5.0mm hook
Ch. 20
Row 1: Sk 2 sts, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each ch across. Turn (18 sts)
Row 2: Ch. 1, Sc around the entire strap. Join to the first sc.
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Weave in your ends.
Place the strap on the hat securing it with your ¾ inch buttons.

Diaper cover-H/5.0mm hook

Ch 39.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 2, turn. (38 sts)
Row 2: Dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (38 sts)
Row 3: Sc in each st across. Do not chain, turn. (38 sts)
Row 4: Sl st in the next 9 sts, Ch 1, hdc in the same st as ch. 1, hdc in each of the next 21 sts. Leave the remaining sts unworked.
Ch 1, turn. (22 sts)
Row 5: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (22 sts)
Row 6: Hdc in each st across. Ch. 1, turn. (22 sts)  
Row 7: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (22 sts)
Row 8: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 18 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (20 sts)
Row 9: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (20 sts)
Row 10: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 16 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (18 sts)
Row 11: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (18 sts)
Row 12: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 14 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (16 sts)
Row 13: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (16 sts)
Row 14: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 12 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (14 sts)
Row 15: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 10sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 16: Hdc2tog, hdc in the next 8 sts, hdc2tog. Ch 1, turn. (10 sts)
Row 17-24: Hdc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (10 sts)
Finishing round: Sc around the entire diaper cover making 2 sc in each corner. Join to the beginning sc. Fasten off leaving a long
tail. Weave in all the ends. Place your 1-inch buttons on the diaper cover making sure to secure them.

Suspenders

Attach the yarn to the back of the diaper cover with a sl st.
Row 1: Ch. 1. Sc in the next 4 sts. Turn (4 sts)
Rows 2-24: Ch. 2. Dc in each st across. Turn. (4 sts)
Row 25: Ch. 1. Sc in the next stitch, Ch. 2, skip next 2 sts, sc in the last st. Turn.
Row 26: Ch. 1. Sc in the next st, 2 sc in the ch. 2 space, sc in the last st. Turn (4 sts)
Row 27: Ch. 1. Sc in the next 4 sts. (4 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Weave in your ends.

Repeat the same thing for the second suspender approximately 3 stitches away.

Bow Tie: (Approximately 3.5 inches long and 2 inches tall)
Ch. 12
Round 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. (10 Dc)
Round 2: Ch. 2. Turn, Dc in each st across. (10 Dc)
Round 3: Ch. 2. Turn, Dc in each st across. (10 Dc)
Finishing Round: Ch.1. Turn, Sc all around entire piece making 2 sc in each corner.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.

Scrunch the tie in the middle and wrap your yarn around it. Fasten off and weave the ends in.
 
Strap
Ch. 41
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from your hook and in each st across. (40 hdc)
Fasten off weave in ends. Sew a small button that is small enough to fit between the hdc sts.

To add the strap to the bow tie, slide the neckband through the loop. Fidget around with it until you get it lined up the way you
