1.0 PURPOSE
To equip students with knowledge in transport planning and policy making.

2.0 COURSE OBJECTIVES:


At the end of this course students should be able to;
i) Understand various regulations and policies governing transport and explain various transport documentations
ii) Understand and evaluate the transport environments and formulate effective policies to govern transport sector
3.0 COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Description
Interaction with the Supplies chain and the economy. Transportation regulations and public policy. Models of transport
and documentation; use of special modes of transport including bulk carriers; intermodal transportation including trailer,
container and piggy-back services. Transportation tariffs and their determinations; negotiating transportation pricing; use
of private transportation compared to common carriers partnering between transporters, growth of information technology
and its application in transport industry. Regulation and control of passenger transport, the structure and organization of
the passenger transport industry Passenger transport modes and modal choice, Costing, Cost Allocation and Revenue
Collection Transport and Environment Section, Integration of Public Transport Services International bodies and
conventions, Safety and Security Performance measurement

Continuous Assessment Tests (CATS) will constitute 30%of the marks and University Examination 70% to make a
