Reason of Revelation
This is part of Holy Quran and the first surah in Holy Quran. It is the summary of Holy Quran in short
and ALLAH SWT is introducing himself. ALLAH SWT revealed this surah to let us know that all praises is for
ALLAH SWT who created the universe, heaven and hell. He created the time and scale. He created
animals/humans and Jins. He also tells us that he is the most gracious and the most merciful. He tells us about
the day of judgement. He tells us to only worship him and seek his refuge and help etc. You are asking why
ALLAH SWT is praising himself. I ask you a question, who should ALLAH praise then? Humans. What can
we do without him? The moment our heart stops beating we are done. Should he praise animals who do not
know what is right and wrong. All praises is for ALLAH SWT because he is the only one who is worthy of it.
We disobey him, he still gives us food. We disobey him he still gives us time to repent, we disobey him but he
says I love you more than 70 mothers. He created the universe, galaxies, angels, humans, animals mountains,
plants etc. We say ALLAH is fantasy, he doesn’t punish us why. Can a human do all these? We depend on him
because he is our creator, he is our sustainer. There is no one to stand with ALLAH SWT. Prophets need him,
Muslims need him, Non-Muslims need him, animals needs him this universe needs him. Look at the sun, look at
the process of day and night. Who is controlling it. Is it happening by itself. Auto Mode? How come it is not
breaking, no glitch since billions of years. Someone has to control it. Look at your own self. Look at your
circulatory system or nervous system. Are we the byproduct of big bang? NO. We have a creator and our
creator is introducing himself that he created us and everything else. You worship idols, fire, sun wind or
humans. They are not worthy to be worshipped. It is not an ego, it is guidance, it is the introduction of the true
creator who is the most gracious and the most.

An-Nasr
‫بِس ِْم ٱهَّلل ِ ٱلرَّحْ َم ٰـ ِن ٱل َّر ِح ِيم‬
Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
‫إِ َذا َجٓا َء نَصْ ُر ٱهَّلل ِ َو ْٱلفَ ْت ُح‬
Iza jaaa’a nasrul-laahi walfath
When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest,
‫اس يَ ْد ُخلُونَ فِى ِدي ِن ٱهَّلل ِ أَ ْف َوا ۭ ًجا‬
َ َّ‫َو َرأَيْتَ ٱلن‬
Wa ra-aitan naasa yadkhuloona fee deenil laahi afwajaa
And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes,
‫ك َوٱ ْستَ ْغفِرْ هُ ۚ إِنَّ ۥهُ َكانَ تَوَّا ۢبًا‬
َ ِّ‫فَ َسبِّحْ بِ َح ْم ِد َرب‬
Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wastaghfirh, innahoo kaana tawwaaba
Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of
repentance.

Reasons of Revelation
In Surah Nasr, Allah informed His Messenger Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam that
Islam had attained complete Victory in Arabia. People have started entering into Islam in great numbers; it
would mean that the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam’s mission for which he had been sent to
the world had been accomplished. In this Surah Al Nasr, the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam
was then asked to indulge himself in praising Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala by Whose bounty he had been able to
accomplish such an excellent task. He should implore Him to forgive whatever failings he might have shown in
the performance of the service. Now consider for a moment, if it were an ordinary leader who in his life brought
a revolution, which was the core aim of his struggle, this would have been an occasion for celebration for him.
On the contrary, in Prophet Muhammad’s case, we notice something quite the opposite. He spent 23 years
revolutionizing the lives of ignorant Arabs, changing their beliefs, customs, morals, economy, politics, etc. Yet,
when he accomplished his task, he was asked to praise Allah and pray for His forgiveness. The Prophet
Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam submitted to Allah’s command humbly. One more aspect of
understanding the Surah Nasr’s cause of Revelation is evident in the following hadith, According to Imam Al-
Bayhaqi Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him said: “After ALLAH revealed this Surah, the Messenger of
Allah Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) summoned his daughter Fatimah may Allah be pleased with her. And said
to her: “It indicates my death.” At this, Fatimah may Allah be pleased with her, began to cry; but she laughed
later when Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Have Patience, my daughter, you are the
first of my family who will join me in the hereafter.” Ibn Abbas also has stated that after the Revelation of this
Surah, the Holy Messenger (upon whom be peace) began to labor very devotedly. He used to perform it so hard
for the Hereafter as he had never done before.
