Activity # 4
Answer the following:

1. Middleware is frequently used in systems Integration projects when different information systems
are tied together to exchange data via system-to-system interfaces. Briefly define middleware, ex-
plain its benefits, and provide an example.
Middleware is software that extends the operating system's functionality and offers common
services and capabilities to applications. Middleware is responsible for data storage,
application resources, messaging, authentication, and API management.
Middleware aids in the faster development of applications. It functions as a link between
applications, data, and users.
And other benefits of middleware are the flow of real-time information access within and
among systems in a network is enabled by middleware.
It aids in the streamlining of procedures and the improvement of organizational performance
in the workplace.
It is able to preserve the integrity of information across a multitude of systems within a
network because it enables contact between systems.
The versatility of middleware is also a benefit.

Example of middleware:

Game engine
Game engine middleware is more helpful for game developers with accessing to different
kinds of tools which help to make game process easier. For examples are game scripting,
physics simulations, and graphics rendering.

Device Middleware
This middleware aids in the delivery of a set of resources that are used to build a variety of
applications and can run in a specific hardware setting.

Integration Middleware
This middleware aids in the delivery of a better integration framework, and it can be used to
evaluate and manage different operations, executions, and runtime resources from various
applications.
Robotic Middleware
This middleware helps to build very extensive software systems for handling robot systems.
With the help of robotic middleware, heterogeneity and complexity of the hardware and
software systems can be managed and controlled.
Transaction Processing Monitor (TP)
This type of middleware delivers better flexibility and security to all functions of electronic
transactions.
It allows control system for all types of transaction apps, pushing database updates which are
similar to transaction as well as enforcing to all business rules and logic of transaction.
Application Framework Middleware
This middleware helps to create simple architecture where all applications are built on
specific environment. It plays role like as backbone that help to support those applications
and it also create particular a server where those applications will be run.

2. In identifying and documenting business requirements, systems analysts need to be able to

distinguish between laws, policies, and procedures. Why is this important?

An information technology (IT) specialist who specializes in researching, developing, and

implementing information systems is known as a systems analyst, also known as a business
technology analyst. In order to achieve these outcomes, systems analysts evaluate the
suitability of information systems in terms of their desired outcomes and collaborate with end
users, software vendors, and programmers.

So why is this important that the system analyst distinguish between laws, policies, and
procedures. BECAUSE TO KNOW THEIR LIMITATIONS AND TO AVOID VIOLATION OF POLICIES, LAWS
AND PROCEDURES.
