1. How do you perceive the word curriculum?

The word curriculum is all about academic content and lesson taught in a school
or in a specific course or program. It a course offered by the school where
knowledge and skills of a students are expected to learn. The curriculum is a whole
experience that are designed for children and for all people through their education
and all the learning experiences are schools’ responsible. For me, curriculum is the
educational foundation of our young generation.

2. What curricula are present in your classroom?

Now a days, we are suffering from crisis brought by COVID 19 pandemic. Due
to the emergence of COVID-19 in the Philippines, a lot of changes happened in the
educational landscape. One of these is the mode of instruction that was
implemented by the Department of Education. The current COVID-19 crisis has
obliged most education systems to adopt alternatives to face-to-face teaching and
learning. The Modular Distance Learning was implemented by the Department of
Education for the continuity of learning. Distance Learning refers to a learning
delivery modality, where learning takes place between the teacher and the learners
who are geographically remote from each other during instruction. Teachers are
the one who printed the modules, and the parents are responsible to assist their
children. So, there is no interaction between the teacher and student inside the
classroom.

3. Can you please describe the kind of curriculum that exist in your
classroom?
Since there is no interaction inside the classroom, the distance learning or e
learning is now existing. The distance learning is any learning that happens without
the students being physically present in the lesson. Modular distance learning is an
individualized instruction that allows learners to use self-learning modules (SLMs)
in print or digital format/electronic copy, whichever is applicable to the learner.
Learners under Modular Distance Learning can also use other resources such as
Learner’s Materials, textbooks, activity sheets, study guides, and other study
materials. Usually, teachers will have to deliver appropriate learning materials.
However, students can also access these materials by downloading electronic
copies through their computer, tablet PC, or smartphone.
4. What specific roles do teacher play as curricularist?
The teacher as a curricularist implements the curriculum. It is in this role that
the teacher gives life to the curriculum plan. Implementation of the curriculum by
the teacher will define the success of the recommended, well-written and planned
curriculum.
5. Can you please share some insights about how you performed your role
as curricularist?
The role of the teacher in the school is very complex. Teachers do a series of
interrelated actions about curriculum, instruction, assessment, evaluation, teaching
and learning. A classroom teacher is involved with curriculum continuously all
day. But very seldom has a teacher been described as curricularist.
The curricularist teachers do initiates to improve the learning process. They are the
teachers who are exciting, facilitate students learning effectively and always
having a plan how to create a conducive learning environment.
