Key points
3.1 Installing BBU Together with Other Devices Inside the 19-inch Rack
If a 19-inch cabinet is available for the power, transmission or BTS (for other systems, e.g.,
GSM, WCDMA) on site and there is at least 4U free space (2U for BBU, 1U for cable
trough and 1U for GPS panel), the BBU can be installed in this rack.
Note
There should be 70mm or more space for ventilation on both sides of BBU.
2. Use an electrical punch drill to drill holes at these hole positions. Install expansion
7
bolt.
4. Install the insulating washer on the anchoring screw hole of the HUB cabinet.
Note
The two pieces of the insulating washer are of different thickness and must be installed in
the same direction.
5. Use two screws to fix the four anchors on the back of the HUB cabinet.

4. Try to install the antenna and the RRU on the same pole. If the antenna is connected
with the RRU with the antenna jumper, it needs not to install the grounding clip. If the
antenna is connected with the RRU with the feeder:
2) Ground the feeder that is longer than 5 m and shorter than 20 m at two points
3) Ground the feeder that is longer than 20 m at the following three points:
––a point on the iron tower platform
––a point between the iron tower and the outdoor cabling rack
––a point within 1 m away from the indoor area
4) Ground the feeder (on the iron tower) that is longer than 60 m at points on every 20
m.
When the antenna is installed on the pole at the top of the building and the feeder is
longer than 20 m, ground the feeder at the point where the feeder departs from the
antenna pole, at the point where the feeder departs from the platform on top of the
building, and at the point where the feeder enters the equipment room. If the distance
between two adjacent grounding points is longer than or equal to 60 m, one grounding
point should be added in the middle between them.

Appendix B Installation Check
The room is sealed well from leakage risks. It is available with air conditioning equipment and
1
not exposed to strong and direct light.
The room is clean without sundries, equipped with emergency lighting and fire-protection
2
facilities.
The racks stand firm and the insulation washer, spring washer and plain washer are correctly
1
positioned.
2 The space is big enough for installation and maintenance purposes.
3 The anti-static wrist strap is ready at the front side of the rack.
4 The redundant connecting terminals inside the rack are well protected.
5 All screws on the modules are tightened.
All necessary PGND cables of the equipment are installed and not connected in serial. The
1
PGND cable is connected to the nearest ground busbar.
The connecting terminal of the PGND cable has been cleaned up and the possible rust is
2
removed before the cable is to be connected, to ensure reliable connection.
The power cable, lug of the ground cable, and bare cables are covered with tubes or wrapped
3 with the insulation adhesive tape. No copper wire is exposed. The copper lug’s specs match
with the cable’s diameter.
The power’s polarity is correct. The power cable and ground cable’s terminal are crimped
4 reliably. The copper lugs are installed on the binding posts and fixed with plain washer and
spring washer and flattened with the spring washer.
The surplus part of the ground cable and power cable is cut off. Whole pieces of the cable are
5
used without joints in the middle. The insulation layers are kept intact.
The power cable is bundled and laid in separation from the signal cable and tail fiber with a
6
spacing of more than 5cm in between. No crossing or overlapping is allowed.
7 The cable is bound tight along the cable tray with an even binding interval of 300~700mm.
8 No cable or tail fiber inside and outside the rack is hung without being fixed to some place.
9 The bending radius of the cable conforms to related standard.
10 The cable joints are tight. No DIN and N types of connectors are connected in a staggered way.
The white straps are used indoors and cut flat at the end part. The black straps are used outdoors
11
and cut flat at the end part but with 3~5mm surplus length (for use in hot weather).
The cables are with labels in correct format and facing the same direction (or as required by the
12
customer if the document stating such requirements is available).
A standalone hold pole must be equipped with the lightning arrestor. The antenna and GPS
1 antenna must be placed within the 45° protection area of the lightning arrestor. Reliable
grounding must be made.
The bracket of the GPS antenna is installed firmly. There is no obstacle within the 120° vertical
2
field angle of the antenna.
The cable joints and ground clip are wrapped to ensure water-proof performance. That is, they
are wrapped with one layer of insulation adhesive tape first, next three layers of water-proof
3
plaster and finally three layers of insulation tape. After the wrapping, two ends of the tape tight
with the UV-screening strap.
A backwater trap is made before the cable runs into the equipment room. The lowest point of
4 the trap is 10 cm ~20 cm below the lower edge of the cable access hole on the feeder window.
The feeder window is sealed with the fire resistant material.
The azimuth error of directional antenna is no more than ±5°. The pitch angle error of the
5 directional antenna is no more than ±5°. The antenna is connected correctly, the sector relations
are correct. No reverse and wrong connections.
