What Connections Do We Make To Comprehend Better?

2. What does this remind me of in my life as a farmer’s child? Text-to-Self Connection

3. How is this text similar to things that happen in the real world? Text-to-World Connection

4. Has something like this embarrassing ever happened to me? Text-to-Self Connection

5. How is this different from other books I have read before? Text-to-Text Connection

Task 2
Directions: Based on the diagram on the right, explain the Japanese concept of Ikigai. Write your
response in a paragraph form of 5 to 10 sentences.
Ikigai is a wonderful Japanese concept that essentially means "a reason for being." It's made
from two Japanese words: iki, meaning "life" and kai, meaning "effect, result, worth or benefit."
Combined: "a reason for living." Your ikigai is your life purpose or your bliss. It's what brings
you joy and inspires you to get out of bed every day.

The concepts that are included in the diagram are all related to life. First is about what you
love. It's something that you do that makes you feel special, precious, and happy. Never listen to
people that can't help you, because you're the one who can only make yourself happy. What you
need is you, no one else, which includes passion and mission. Next, we have what you are good
at. It's your talent. It is something that you do that you impress yourself, which is all about
passion and profession. We also have what the world needs, which is your kindness and effort to
make an impact on the world, which includes mission and vocation. And last, we have what you
can be paid for, which is something that you deserve to claim throughout the hard work, which is
all about profession and vocation.

Many people are enslaved by the insatiable desire to do everything faster, better, and harder.
On the other hand, discovering your ikigai will help you slow down and enjoy life more. It will
also help you live longer if you can figure out what your life's mission is.
