1. Was KEI’s decision to acquire the services of PMDC a wise move?

Yes, it was a wise decision of KEI to acquire the services of PMDC for the training of

newly promoted or potential project managers and project managers. This training

helped to increase the knowledge and skills of the project managers to be more

productive and effective in leading initiatives pertaining to innovation. PMDC also trained

around 1200 manager level employees across the globe on different management tools

and techniques. 300 managers completed PMP certification and 150 managers

completed Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certifications. All these trained employees helped

company to achieve 10 times more milestones of programs and projects. It also helped

to double the competency level of project managers within 25 months after these

trainings.

2. What are the key challenges discussed in this case? Explain.

KEI was facing the following key challenges discussed in this case study:

o Project managers of KEI did not have business skills.

o Project Managers had less leadership and communication skills.

o There was a need to standardize business and technology processes.

o Improvement of the percentage of programs and projects to meet milestone

targets.

3. What are the lessons learned from this case?

Competency, Business, leadership and communications skills can double the success to

achieve the milestones and targets of programs and projects. Providing relevant
trainings to the relevant staff helps to improve the productivity and efficiency of

employees.
