THIRD TERM-REVISION WORKSHEET 2020-2021

SCIENCE
Name:………………………………. Y7/Gr 6:….

1. If u add more batteries to your circuit with one light bulb it will get brighter.

True
False
2. If you replace the paper clip with a plastic spoon, what happens?

A. The bulb doesn't light

B. The bulb is dimmer
C. The wires get hot
D. There is no change

3. A series circuit has ____ path(s) that the electric current can take.
A. One
B. Two
C. Three
D. Four

4. What is a switch's function in a circuit?

A.to make the current hotter or colder
B. turn on and off the flow of current
C. the pathway that current flows
D.to add more power to the circuit

1
5. This circuit is .....?

A. open
B. parallel
C. closed
D. none of the above

6. If the electric circuit is CLOSED, the switch is _______.

On B. Off

7. If the electric circuit is OPEN, the switch is ____.

2
On B. Off

8. Why electrical wiring usually are covered with a layer of plastic?

A. To make it look pretty

B. To help electricity flow along the wire
C. To make it safe
D. To add more energy

9. Why is electrical wiring usually made from copper?

3
A. Because copper is shiny
B. Because copper conducts electricity
C. Because copper is not magnetic
D. Because copper insulate electricity

10. A sixth grade class constructed this circuit.  Which of these objects most likely
made the light glow when connected to points X and Y?

A. Plastic straw
B. cotton string
C. aluminium foil
D. rubber eraser

11. The student place different objects in the gap and turn on the switch to see if
the light bulb lights up. Which object will best conduct electricity?

A.A glass bead because it allows electricity to flow through

B.A plastic button because it allows electricity to flow through
C.A copper coin because it allows electricity to flow through
D.A wooden toothpick because it allows electricity to flow through

12. A material that does not allow electricity to flow through the circuit is
4
known as a _______________.
A. Conductor
B. Source
C. Transformer
D. Insulator

13. What is an electric circuit?

Ans: An electric circuit is a closed loop of different components in which

electricity can flow .

14. Explain how the bulb glows in circuit when it is connected to cell?

Ans. Electric current can flow from the cell to the bulb through wires and bulb
glows

15. Why rubbers and plastic used to cover electric wires and plug tops?
Ans. Because rubber and plastic are good insulators, so that we can handle the
wires and plugs safely without getting electric shock.

16. Why is handle of tools like screw driver, pliers are covered with plastic or
rubber?
Ans. Because rubber and plastic are good insulators, so that we can handle the
screw driver, pliers safely.

17. Why should an electrician use rubber gloves while repairing an electric switch
at your home? Explain.
Ans. Because rubber is a good insulator of electricity.

5
18. What is open circuit?
Ans. If the switch in the circuit is ‘off ‘ position and also the electricity is not
flowing through the circuit it is called an open circuit.

19. Define conductors and insulators. Give one example of each.

Ans. Materials that allow electricity to pass through them are called conductors.
E.g.: copper, Aluminium
Materials that do not allow electricity to pass through them are called insulators.

E.g.: plastic, wood

20.  Identify conductors and insulators from the following:

Eraser, paper, matchstick, copper wire, pencil lead, polythene

Conductors: copper wire, pencil lead

Insulators: Eraser, paper, matchstick, polythene

21. Conductors and insulators are equally important for us. Give reasons.
Ans: Conductors helps to conduct electricity in a circuit and insulators helps us to
handle the electrical appliances safely without getting shock

22. What is the function of a switch in an electric circuit?

Ans. Switches are used to turn on or off a circuit.

23. What is a circuit? Name its different components and draw a labelled diagram
of a circuit.
Ans: A complete route around which an electric current can flow.
Battery, bulb ,switch, wire

24. Why do you think electric wires are made out of copper or aluminium though
6
silver is a better conductor of electricity?
Ans: Copper and aluminium is a good conductor of electricity and also less
expensive when compared with silver.

25. A bare wire carrying an electric current can give you an electric shock. Based
on this, can you say if your body is a conductor or an insulator?
Ans: conductor

26. As a safety measure, you are advised to wear rubber slippers or shoes when
handling electrical appliances. Why?

Ans: Because rubber is a good insulator of electricity.
