happiness (tasyäà tasyäà sa labhate nirvåtià), racitayä äläpaiù) in solitary places (rahah),

naraka-stho 'pi dehaà vai gåheñu küöa-dharmeñu


na pumäàs tyaktum icchati duùkha-tantreñv atandritaù
närakyäà nirvåtau satyäà kurvan duùkha-pratékäraà
deva-mäyä-vimohitaù sukhavan manyate gåhé

nirüòha-müla-hådaya arthair äpäditair gurvyä
ätmänaà bahu manyate hiàsayetas-tataç ca tän
puñëäti yeñäà poñeëa
With his heart deeply rooted (nirüòha-müla- çeña-bhug yäty adhaù svayam
hådaya) in his body, wife, sons, house, animals,
wealth and friends (ätma-jäyä-suta-ägära- paçu- He supports his family members (tän
draviëa-bandhuñu), he feels fully successful puñëäti) with wealth obtained (arthair
(ätmänaà bahu manyate). äpäditair) from here and there (itah-tatah)
by great violence (gurvyä himsayä), while
sandahyamäna-sarväìga he eats only their remnants (yeñäà poñeëa
eñäm udvahanädhinä çeña-bhug). By this process he goes to hell

Burning in all his limbs (sandahyamäna-


sarväìga), the fool (müòhah), with sinful mind
(duräçayaù), performs sinful acts (karoty
duritäni) because of constant anxiety (aviratam
ädhinä) to maintain his family (eñäm
udvahana).
