 Reports observations and information to assist in the development of


personalized treatment programs.
 Writes reports on inspections, inmate/offender grievances, disciplinary actions,
and inmate/offender performance to document activities, to have a permanent
record, and to provide management with information.
 Observes inmates/offenders in the housing unit area to detect abnormalities,
problems, or unrest and to initiate corrective actions.
 Instructs inmates/offenders on the rules and regulations of the unit and
expected behavior, in order to orientate new inmates/offenders to the prison
environment and to develop a constructive rapport with them.

 Researches inmates'/offenders' backgrounds to establish a treatment file and


to provide information for proper classification.
 Counsels inmates/offenders, including crisis intervention, to assist them in
adapting to the prison environment; solving problems; filing grievances; and
planning for treatment changes, furloughs, and parole.
 Directs compliance with all administrative regulations, operational
memorandums, post orders, State statutes, and agency policies and
procedures to maintain prison order and effective prison operation.

ADDICTION COUNSELOR TRAINEE, LEWIS & CLARK BEHAVIORAL

1. Responsible for providing recovery oriented, co-occurring capable, stage
matched interventions throughout each of the following services to individuals:
a. Assessment and Diagnostic interviews
b. Individual, family, or group therapy
c. Education
d. Crisis Management

f. Alcohol/Drug testing (Urine Analysis, Breathalyzers, etc.)
g. Discharge and Referrals
h. Follow up services as necessary
2. Responsible for preparation, review and submission of required documentation
throughout the treatment process for each individual. This includes the following:

d. Referral documentation

f. Aftercare planning
g. Other reports as required by the Division of Community Behavioral Health or
other referral sources.
3. Responsible for obtaining/maintaining appropriate certification for groups or
curriculum as necessary.
4. Assist in training and orientation of trainee staff as directed by supervisor.
5. Understand and maintain confidentiality as defined by the Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
6. Responsible for maintaining liaison and working relationships with local
referral sources and community agencies.
7. Responsible for participation in staff meetings concerning clients and program
policies.
8. Responsible for working closely with all staff to establish and maintain a
welcoming environment that enhances the strengths of each client.
9. Responsible to assist in establishing and maintaining good relations with civic,
professional, governmental entities, and the community in general by having an
active interest in community affairs.
10. Responsible for other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

·Intake: Completing administrative and initial procedures foe admissions in to


center ·Orientation: Orientating residents to the nature and goals of the program;
advising residents of their rights.
·Assessments: Identifying and evaluating an individual resident’s strengths,
weaknesses, problems, and needs for the development if a treatment plan.
·Treatment Planning: Working with the resident to identify and rank problems
needing resolution; establish agreed-upon goals; deciding on treatment methods
and the resources to be used,
·Counseling of Individuals, Groups and Significant Others; Utilizing special skills

explorations of a problem and its ramifications; examination of attitudes and
feelings; consideration of alternative solutions; and decision making.
·Case Managements: Bringing services, agencies, resources or people together

goals; case management involve liaison activities and collateral contacts
·Crisis Intervention: Providing services which to respond to an alcohol and/or drug
abuser’s needs during acute emotional and/or physical distress.
·Resident Education: Providing information to individuals and groups concerning
alcohol and other drug abuse and the available services and resources.

·Referral: Identifying the needs of the residents that cannot be met by the Advocate
or Center and helping the resident to utilize the support systems and community
services available.
·Reporting and Record Keeping: Charting the results of the assessment and
treatment plan, and writing reports, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other
resident related data.
·Consultation with Peers and Professionals in Regards to Resident
Treatment/Services: Relating with peers and professionals to assure
comprehensive, quality care for the resident.
·Personal Education: Updating professional education through classes, workshops
and seminars.
