I. Introduction

Company History:

In the modern world people struggle to find time to get the items needed for a successful
event. Other times the store may not have the item needed in stock. Crate was founded to
provide consumers with a quick and easy way to acquire all the items needed for a
successful event in one purchase.

Mission Statement:

Our mission at Crate is to provide an easy and stress free solution to the stress of party
planning. Our crates are filled with everything you will need to have a successful event of
your choosing.

Purpose of Handbook:

The Employee Handbook was created to establish guidelines to be followed by all Crate
employees. It will also outline the policies set by Oceanside VE’s Human Relations
Department and executive team. This handbook covers the guidelines and expectations
we expect all employees to adhere to in order to ensure a safe and productive working
environment.

II. Company Overview

A) Company Structure:

Crate is run by the CEO, CFO, CMO. The Crate company structure ensures
administrative presence and works hard with all employees to achieve their goals.
All employees will adhere to the company’s schedule to guarantee that they maintain
communication throughout the workplace.

B) Roles and Responsibilities:

Chief Executive Officer(CEO): The Chief Executive Officer's primary responsibilities


include making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources
of a company.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO): The CFO is responsible for the financial operations of
the company, financial strategies, and is the head of the accounting team.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO): The CMO is responsible for all marketing
operations of the company, social media platforms, marketing strategies, and is the head
of the marketing team.

Accounting Associate: Accounting associates are responsible for the financial aspects of
the company. They produce financial reports, direct investment activities, and develop
strategies and plans for long term goals.

Marketing Associate: Marketing associates are responsible for the marketing aspects of
the company. They produce social media ads, design logos, and develop marketing
strategies and plans for long term goals.

HR Associate: HR associates are responsible for the Human Resource aspects of the
company. They are in charge of attendance, monthly newsletters, and ensuring a safe and
an efficient workplace. HR associates also enforce, maintain, and update the employee
handbook.

III. Communications

Overview: All Employes meet every day, five days a week. Half the staff works in person
adhering to safety guidelines, while the other half works virtually. All of the staff has
access to a Crate meeting, and calendar. The Crate administrative branch also utilizes
various technological communications’ apps to further enhance communication.

IV. Company policies and procedures

A) Dress Code:

Dress code is important to enhance our image as business personnel to our


competitors, consumers, and peers. All employees are expected to dress in appropriate
clothing daily. Employees are expected to wear business casual to all company
appearances, competitions, and trade shows unless otherwise instructed.

B) Diversity and Inclusion Policy:

Crate is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity


and inclusion. Crate’s diversity initiatives are applicable but not limited to our practices
and policies on recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; professional
development and training; promotions; transfers; social and recreational programs; and
the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of gender and
diversity equity that encourages and enforces:

● The fair treatment of all employees

● A focus on innovation and creativity
● Organizational flexibility, responsiveness, and agility
● Conflict resolution processes that are collaborative

C) Drugs and Alcohol Policy:

Crate believes that all employees work best in an environment that is drug free. Usage of
any alcohol or drugs during operating hours is not tolerated and will subjected to
disciplinary action

D) )Internet, Email, and Social Media Acceptable Policy:

Crate recognizes that use of the Internet, e-mail, and social media is necessary in the
workplace, and employees are encouraged to use the Internet, e-mail, and social media to
market products and services to other firms, and the consumers, offer coupon codes and
upcoming promotions for our products, and give hints to our new products that we will be
releasing to the market.

V. Employee Performance

A) Performance Evaluations:

To assist each employee in reaching his/her full potential, the CEO will conduct a
Performance Review on a bimonthly basis. The purpose of the performance review is to
analyze the employee’s performance and to develop a plan to continue to improve
performance. Performance evaluations will be conducted bi-monthly as your productivity
is recorded. The administrative team will work closely in monitoring work performance.

B) Employee of the Month:

After each executive completes their department’s evaluations, each department head will
select an employee of the month. On the last Monday of each month the executives will
select the employee during their meeting. However, the entire company will submit to HR
their personal selection for employee of the month. The CEO will make the final choice.
Employees can only be the employee of the month once.

C) Invaluable Work Ethic:

Expected work ethic includes holding a professional and neat work environment as well
as a positive attitude every day. Wasting time and company money is not tolerated and
will result in disciplinary action.

D) Professional Development:
We at Crate provide professional development training opportunities allowing our staff to
build their confidence in the work that they do. It also helps them to build credibility as
they continue to gain new skill sets and certificates.

VI. Discipline Policy

A) Grounds for Disciplinary Action:


Employees at Crate are required to follow all company policies and employment terms.
Those who do not follow the rules are subject to disciplinary action. These include, but
are not limited to:
● Unproductivity
● Use of company resources for personal usage without permission
● Insubordination
● Dishonesty towards the company, coworkers, and other companies
● Violation of a co-workers privacy technologically or physically
● Failure to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and conduct required by the company
● Failure to abide by the companies dress code
● Unauthorized technology usage

B) Conflict Resolution:
When two employees or more in the workplace do not get along, or cause a conflict,
measures will be taken based on how serious the conflict is. Conflict resolution involves
HR, or any other supervisor talking to both sides of the conflict and coming up with a
reasonable compromise and filling out the Crate Conflict Resolution Agreement Sheet
and signed by all parties that were involved in the conflict and it will be sent to HR to be
archived.

VII. Employee Benefits

A) Payroll:

Employees work to a standard of 5-8 hours a week without compensation for overtime.
Employees will be paid bi-monthly on the 15th and last day of every month. Bonuses will
be provided to the Employee of the month.

B) Retirement Planning:

We at crate offer our employees a Retirement plan by using 401(K). 401k contributions
are taken before income taxes, leaving the employee with a lesser gross income. To
calculate the income tax in your paycheck employees will have the option to decide on
how much money goes into their 401(K) contributions and value from every payroll
period. As of right now Crate will not be matching people’s contribution. Employees can
keep these perks after quitting or being fired while waiting for vesting periods to end.

VIII. Attendance Policy

A) General Attendance:

Each employee is expected to arrive at the workplace prepared, and if you take a personal
day, sick day , or Covid leave you need call our company phone number which is (516)
971-3497 or filling out the Personal Day Off sheet and get it filled out by a supervisor
when taking these and note that you will not get paid if you take off from work. All
employees will be given 7 personal days, 7 sick days, and 14 days if you have Covid, and
it will be reset every semester.

B) Personal day:

Taking a personal day means that you can come into work for that day because maybe
you have jury duty, emergency, or any other things.

C) Tardiness:

For every three class periods an employee is tardy and they will receive an absence as a
consequence after 9 tardy days you will meet with the human resources department to
find a solution as well as penalization for your repeated tardiness.

D) Sick Days/Covid Leave:

Sick Days can only happen when you can’t make it into the office because of an illness,
injury, or disability. Employees will be given 7 sick days per semester, and if you have
Covid-19 then you will receive a mandatory 14 day quarantine. All of these will reset
after each semester.

IX. Employee Receipt And Acceptance

EMPLOYEE RECEIPT AND ACCEPTANCE

I hereby acknowledge receipt of the Crate Employee Handbook.  I understand


that it is my continuing responsibility to read and know its contents.  I also
understand and agree that the Employee Handbook is not an employment
contract for any specific period of employment or for continuing or long‐term
employment.  Therefore, I acknowledge and understand that unless I have a
written employment agreement with Crate that provides otherwise, I have the
right to resign from my employment with Crate at any time with or without
notice and with or without cause, and that Crate has the right to terminate my
employment at any time with or without notice and with or without cause.  

I have read, understood and agreed to all of the above.  I have also read and
understand the Crate Employee Handbook.
