Activity 1.

Responding with Positive Discipline

Direction: We use problem solving when we are facing challenging situations in the classrooms. Try to
identify possible ways of responding to common classroom situations using positive discipline.

1. Continuous crying- First I will ask what is the reason why the child is crying and then why they are
fighting I will give advice to the two of them not to fight anymore because it is bad and they should not
fight again then I will approach them not to cry anymore.

2. Fighting- If I see children fighting I will fight them immediately and if the reason they are fighting is a
Toy, I will say that what they are doing is wrong and I will immediately resolve the thing they are
fighting and what I will say that they should share that toy, so that they don't fight anymore and when told
not to fight again because that's bad.

3. No Assignment or projects- If the children are not doing an assignment or projects I will ask what is the
reason why he is not or does not want to do an assignment or project so that I can help him and if the
reason why he is not doing is he does not understand or know what to do. I will explain to him well so
that he can understand and I will guide him in what he should do so that next time he will do it and I will
also tell him that it is wrong not to do assignments or projects.

4. Grabbing other's belongings (toys, things , food etc) - Taking things that are not yours is bad like taking
toys, food. If I see a child taking toys and food that are not his I will tell him not to do that because it is
bad and I will also ask first what the reason why he takes it. If he says the reason is that he wants that toy
or food I will tell him that he can tell the owner properly if he can ask for food or borrow a toy so he can't
Tell the person who takes the toy and food that is not from him and also for the next time he will learn
what he will do right for the next time he borrows something.
