COURSE ADVENTURE #1

IN THE FIRST COURSE ADVENTURE, WE ARE ASKED TO RECORD

OURSELVES, INTERVIEW FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS WITHIN OUR
COVID BUBBLE, RECORD THEIR RECREATION, LEISURE ACTIVITIES
AND ASK THEM WHY AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DOING THESE
RECREATION AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES. THE PURPOSE OF STUDYING
LEISURE AND RECREATION IS TO EXPAND OUR VISION TO
UNDERSTAND OUR TRUE SELF, EXPLORE OTHER PEOPLE’S INTERESTS
AS WELL AS “THE SOCIETY WE LIVE IN”, “FOR SOCIAL REASONS” AND
MANY MORE. (LUNN, 2021). IN THIS PROJECT, I INTERVIEWED MY
BROTHER (RYAN), AND ONE OF MY FRIENDS WITHIN MY COVID
BUBBLE (ARYAN).

Recreation and Leisure Activities:
Basketball (drop-ins), Creating
fitness content for TikTok.

1. Basketball (drop-ins): I have played basketball my entire life, and it is

my favourite sport. I like playing basketball because it helps me to stay in
shape physically and it can certainly help me to relieve stress as well. This
is a personal benefit because “Relaxation, rest and revitalization through
the opportunity of leisure are ESSENTIAL TO STRESS
MANAGEMENT in today’s busy and demanding world” (Karlis, 2011, as
cited in Lunn, 2021). Another reason is to give me opportunities to meet
new people and build connections. It falls in the social benefit (Karlis,
2011, as cited in Lunn, 2021).

2. Creating Content for TikTok: Social
media is one of the most popular daily leisure
activities among the Canadians, “60% of
Canadians browsed social media and/or the
web daily” (BookNet Canada, 2019, as cited
in Lunn, 2021). I like creating fitness content
on TikTok with my friend (Aryan). Our goal
is to motivate and inspire other people by
sharing our fitness journeys. On the other
hand, I get to connect with others, as we all
know, social media is one of the best ways to
connect and meet people nowadays. This is a
personal and social benefit (Karlis, 2011, as
cited in Lunn, 202). This also connects to my
ideal self-image, ”a best possible version of
yourself” (Lunn, 2021). I hope to inspire
others by sharing my fitness journeys.

My Ideal Self-Image vs Actual Self

Ideal Self-Image, “a best possible version of

yourself” (Lunn, 2021). I would have more
hustle and drive, more motivation to be the
best that I can be. I want to be an inspiration Actual Self, “this can be defined as
and a good influencer to others, as I who you are right now, at this moment
mentioned in the previous slides in creating or at this stage in your life” (Lunn,
