Study the Case of the Teacher going viral in the news due to the content of his tiktok video.
Write a brief background of the situation and analyze the legal and ethical violations committed
by the teacher. Use the guide questions to analyze his case.

1. What are the contributing factors that pushed the Department of Education to investigate the
viral tiktok video of the alleged teacher?
-The Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday, November 5, ordered its regional unit in
Central Luzon to probe the viral TikTok video of a teacher for “insinuating a potential child
abuse action.” The DepEd said the teacher, whose name and school the agency has not disclosed,
will face “appropriate sanctions” if merited. In the viral video, the teacher was seen dancing and
making poses to attract “cute” students. The video has been taken down but social media users
were able to download it. “As teachers and public servants, we must always champion a safe and
nurturing learning environment for children, where physical, verbal, sexual and other forms of
abuse and discrimination are renounced,” the DepEd said.

2. What rights of the teacher were violated when this tiktok video had gone viral?
-"DepEd, as an institution trusted to protect the rights of every Filipino learner, does not tolerate
any form of abuse towards children," the agency said in a statement. Education Secretary Leonor
Briones has told the agency's office in Central Luzon to probe the incident and met the teacher
with appropriate sanctions. DepEd sought to remind teachers and non-teaching staff to always
"subject our words and actions, including our social media activities, to the highest degree of
ethical and professional standards. Teachers above all, it added, should advocate for "safe and
nurturing learning environment for children, where physical, verbal, sexual and other forms of
abuse and discrimination are renounced."
3. What legal an ethcal principles were violated by the teacher in the conduct of his profession?
-The most common ethics violations involved non-school-related criminal activity, sexual
misconduct with students, failure to disclose previous crimes or license sanctions, physical
aggression toward students, and endangering student health or safety.

4. What do you think should the teacher have done to avoid such incriminating violations?
 Don't Become Friends With Your Students.
 Don't Stop Lessons Over Minor infractions.
 Avoid Being Overly Stern.
5. If you were the teacher, what should you bear in mind to avoid such allegations in the future?
-To be flexible with your students and never use your teaching position as a superiority tool against the
students; let them know instead that your their next best friend, remember they are in school all day
who else but you can they count on.  Also, examine the content of any Myspace, Facebook, or other
social networking web pages you have created or are part of.
