M.N. Roy was the first person who was brought the idea of ‘ the Constituent
Assembly’, who wrote a series of articles in ‘Independent India’ to discuss
the economical and political structure of the future India. M. N. Roy was a
pioneer of the Communist movement in India and an advocate of radical
democracy.
Sir Benegal Narsing Rau, was an Indian civil servant,
jurist, diplomat and statesman known for his key role in
drafting the Constitution of India. He was responsible
for the general structure of it’s framework of the
Constitution & prepared its initial draft . He was the
constitutional advisor in the Constituent Assembly.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
❖Reading – The reading of the draft of the constitution was started in the
Constituent Assembly.
✓ 1st Reading : 04.11.1948 – 09.11.1948
✓ 2nd Reading : 15.11.1948 – 17.10.1949
✓ 3rd Reading : 14.11.1949 – 26.11.1949
❑2473 amendment was done out of the 7635 in the table.
❖26.11.1949 – Adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent
Assembly.
❖26.01.1950* – On 24.01.1950 the Constituent Assembly held its final
session. Finally 284 members were signed to the Draft of the Constitution
of India on the behalf of people of India. The session was continued to
26.01.1950. On that day the Constituent Assembly ceased to exist and
transforming itself into the provincial Parliament of India until a new
Parliament was constituted in 1952.
