SCRAPBOOK ON FARM

EQUIPMENT
Dumot, Julia Ann
Robbins-8
Modern farmers have a huge range of equipment options for the various activities they
do on an annual basis. From high-tech combine harvesters to simple tractors, the
various kinds of farm equipment available can meet the needs of small-scale
homesteaders and industrial-size farming operations alike. However, it can be difficult to
keep track of all the options. New farmers especially may wonder what the different
types of farming machinery are for. For small- and mid-size farms especially,
determining the different types of farming machinery you may need to make your
operations more efficient can be frustrating.

While all the equipment available may seem confusing, knowing about the basic farm
equipment options can be an enormous help. If you're looking into purchasing new or
used farm equipment, take a look at this guide. We'll go over the different types of
agricultural machines and their uses, as well as some of the options for small, mid-size
and large-scale farming operations.

Combine harvester
A combine harvester is used for the processes of farming
such as reaping, threshing, and winnowing. Combine
Harvester is the best machine that is used to harvest all
types of crops like barley, wheat, rye, oats, corn, and
much more.
Fertilizer Spreaders

A fertilizer spreader is a piece of agricultural equipment

people can use to apply even, aerated coats of fertilizer to
lawns, beds, and fields. Fertilizer spreaders can come in
the form of tractor attachments or standalone devices and
are readily available through agricultural suppliers and
gardening stores.

Harrows
farm implement used to pulverize soil, break up crop
residues, uproot weeds, and cover seed. In Neolithic
times, soil was harrowed, or cultivated, with tree
branches; shaped wooden harrows were used by the
Egyptians and other ancient peoples, and the Romans
made harrows with iron teeth.

Plows
a large farming implement with one or more blades fixed
in a frame, drawn by a tractor or by animals and used for
cutting furrows in the soil and turning it over, especially
to prepare for the planting of seeds.
Combine or harvester
Combine harvesting combines several operations into
one: cutting the crop, feeding it into threshing mechanism,
threshing, cleaning, and discharging rain into a bulk
wagon or directly into a bags. Straw is usually discharged
behind the combine in a windrow.
