1.0 SCOPE
GENERAL
This specification covers the minimum requirements for furnishing all labour, material
and services in connection with the design, fabrication, factory testing, documentation,
tagging and shipping of Knife Gate Valves with Actuators, including all necessary
accessories, to be installed outdoors, required for the Project “Ingeniería de Detalles
Tratamiento de Agua Coposa Norte”, property of Compañía Minera Doña Inés de
Collahuasi SCM, Chile.
The Bidder shall furnish all valves listed on Doc. N° I08-028-000J-DS093, “Data sheets“
and shall be included any accessories required to ensure accurate, safe, continuous
and reliable operation.
Design, function and satisfactory performance of the entire system and all its
components and accessories are the Bidder’s responsibility.
All materials of construction for all components and accessories, including spares, shall
be new, suitable for the service and duty and shall meet the requirements of codes and
regulations as specified under Paragraph 2.0 of this specification.
Approval by Collahuasi of the Bidder’s design and calculations does not relieve the
Bidder of the responsibility for the integrity of the design.
If the Bidder has knowledge of any facts which may significantly affect the design of
the equipment, but are not covered in this Technical Specification, the Bidder shall
inform to Collahuasi immediately.
The Bidder shall provide qualified personnel, as may be required, to start-up the
equipment furnished.
The Bidder shall include technical information in detail and quantity as specified in the
FORM ENG-44, “Drawing and Data Requirements” attached in the Material Requisition.
The selected Bidder shall provide maintenance manual with, at least, the following
information:

The Bidder shall furnish a recommended spare part list for two years operation and a
recommended spare part list for start-up, both itemized and individually priced.
Bidder shall provide a metallic plate for identification of each valve according to Tag and
Identification of each valve.
The following items are specifically excluded from this specification and shall be
furnished by Purchaser:
Exceptions to the provisions of the specification and Data Sheets shall be allowed only
by written permission of the Purchaser.
The valves and all the accessories shall conform to the applicable requirements of the
latest edition of the following:

In case of discrepancies between this specification and the attached data sheets, the
data sheets shall supersede.
Each device furnished under this specification shall be suitable for continuous 24 hours
per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year, operation in a dusty or wet atmosphere
containing grit and micron sized particles and shall perform satisfactorily under
environmental and operating conditions specified in the attached Valves Data Sheets.
The valves shall be designed for continuous operation at the elevation and ambient
temperature range detailed in the Section 4, “Información específica de terreno de
Collahuasi” of the Material Requisition Doc. N° I08-028-000J-MR093.
Some valves shall operate with Fresh Water and others valves shall operate with milk of
lime. Water analysis is showed in section 6.
Valves electric components shall have clamp type terminal blocks or screw terminals.
Terminals shall be clearly marked with L, N, G and C, NC or NO for switch contacts.
The enclosures shall be waterproof and dust proof and shall comply with NEMA 4,
NEMA 4X according to data sheets.
Each valves shall be Bidder’s standard, heavy duty, field proven designed with a record
of successful operation in industrial environments as required for the application
specified.
Body and trim materials are specified on the valve data sheet.
Vendor shall review the specific conditions for each valve in regards to sizing, type,
materials and operating noise levels. Noise levels shall not exceed 85 dBA at a
distance of 1 meter. If noise levels are exceeded, Vendor shall notify the Buyer and
suggest alternative designs to reduce the noise levels.

All valves shall be completely assembled requiring only electric power for operate.
Actuator type shall be indicated on Valve data sheet.
Process connection shall be ANSI B16.5 CL 150 # Lugged type or other specified on
the data sheet.
Actuator fail position (open, closed or last position) shall be specified on the data
sheets.
The actuator shall be supplied with local operation interface for valve status
visualizations and open close command. Terminal blocks for remote operation shall be
available of way to get status indication and remote open close command. Valve status
shall include open and close, torque and motor fail indications.
NEMA 4X, GO series 80 or similar magnetic limit switches shall be used for detect open
and close valve status.
Enclosures shall be metallic waterproof and dust proof and shall comply with NEMA 4X.
Manufacturer’s warranty
The Bidder must guaranty the manufacturing of valves at least during 5 years and
spare parts at least during 10 years.
The manufacturer shall shop-assemble all valves and components, provide its own
quality control inspection, and shall perform all testing required to demonstrate that the
valves is in full compliance with the specifications and is completely operable.
The Purchaser reserves the right to expedite and inspect all materials during fabrication
and before shipment. Unless otherwise noted in the purchaser order, the Bidder shall
notify the Purchaser at least 30 days before shipment of the valves so that
arrangements can be made for final inspection and testing.
If, in the opinion of the Purchaser, inspection and testing of the valves does not indicate
good workmanship, Bidder shall make such changes as necessary to rectify this
condition. The Purchaser shall witness such further tests as it deems necessary to
ensure that the valves complies the specification. All costs of such additional test shall
be for the account of the Bidder.
It is the intent the valves shall be shipped to the jobsite completely assembled. If this is
not feasible, Bidder shall so state in his proposal and shall describe the extent of

assembly proposed; in such cases, all parts shall be match-marked to facilitate field
assembly.
Valves shall operate with Coposa Norte fresh water. To see fresh water analysis on
table below, “ CN Water ” column.
