Course Synopsis

The course focuses on theoretical approaches of planning the learning environment, designing for play,
classroom, landscape and playground safety protocol.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

1. Design Early Childhood classroom for conducive environment and out environment.
2. Manage and maintain classroom conduciveness and outdoor facilities.
3. Discuss Health and safety protocols in designing classroom and outdoor environment.

Course Requirements & Policies

You are expected to fulfill the following requirements of the course to obtain a grade:

 Attendance
Attendance for class is compulsory

 Assignment
Each student is required to submit written and conduct presentations depending on the
instructions of the course leader. The assignment must be submitted on the specified date. If
you encounter any problem to submit the assignment on the specific date, you are required to
inform the lecturer well in advance at least 24 hours before the specified date and time.
Otherwise, your marks on the assignment will be zero.

For any assignments given, the format of the paper should be as follows:

a) A cover page with your details – Course Code, Title, Name, Student ID and the name of the
lecturer
b) Font Arial, size 11 with 1.5 spacing
c) Compulsory to include a reference page for every assignment that you submitted.

Students should not copy in doing their assigned work. Students who are caught doing so
will be penalized and the assignment rejected. Plagiarism is a serious offence. It is
ultimately the student’s responsibility to make sure all of the assignments for the course is
completed.

 Final Examination
The final exam is comprehensive covering all the topics. You will be examined on your level of
understanding and knowledge acquired in this course.
