Questions Transient Pressure Analysis

Question No.1
A well is produced for a short time and then shut-in for a build-up test. The production
history was as follows.
Production Time Total Production
(hrs) STB
25 52
12 0
26 46
72 68
 Calculate the pseudo producing time, tp*
Question No.2: Estimating Reservoir Size from Two Pressure Buildup Tests
The following data were recorded from two pressure buildup tests:
PAvl = 3900 psi, PAV2 = 3000 psi, oil produced between two tests in 6 months =
qAv = 250stb/day;
h = 125 ft  = 21.5 %
-6 -1
ct = 9.5 x 10 psi Bo = 1.136 BBL/STB

 Estimate the reservoir size in acres

Question No.3: Analyzing Incomplete Perforated Interval

An oil well is perforated in the bottom 12 ft of the total formation thickness of 33 ft.
Assuming ratio of horizontal to vertical permeability, kh/kv = 1.0.
A pressure buildup test was run on this well; results and basic properties are:
Pwf = 1450 psi q = 125 STB/d h = 10 ft
P1hr = 2000 psi  = 18% k = 4.5 mD
ct = 1.6x 10-5 psi-1 o = 0.45 cp rw = 0.3 ft
m = 48 psi/cyc

 Calculate the following:

1. Total true skin factor, S
2. Skin due to formation damage, Sd
3. Skin due to incompletely perforated interval, Sp
4. Determine whether the productivity problem results from formation
damage or from other causes.

Question No.4: Analyzing Partially Completed Damage Well

Sand control measure is required to allow production from a highly permeable
formation. The pressure buildup test was run in the well; results and basic properties
are:
Pi-Pwf = 150 psi q = 125 STB/d hp = 69 ft
Bo = 1.107 BBL/STB  = 20 % k = 950 mD
ct = 2.0 x 10-5 psi-1 o = 0.754 cp rw = 0.38 ft
ks/k = 0.25 m = 35 psi/cyc re = 1450 ft
P1hr-Pwf = 810 psi

 Calculate the following:

1. Total true skin factor, S
2. Apparent skin factor, Sa
3. Flow rate if entire zone is perforated
4. Flow rate if middle 10 ft is perforated
5. Theoretical skin factor, S.
