1. Individual

Bangalore and its Auto drivers are worth to tell as a story. I used to travel to
Bangalore during weekends from my home. And as soon as you get down of the bus
in Majestic you find a different war going on which auto rickshaw driver is going to
take you home.
One day as usual I got down in Majestic and to my surprise an auto driver came to me
and showed me the rate card to all the places in the city. And to my surprise and
knowledge I didn’t know of any such rate card existed. He’s trying his best to
convince me that the rate card from Majestic to my home in Shanthi Nagar is around
300 rupees. And even when I restrained myself from going to him, he told other
drivers not to take me home and was making sure that I don’t book an ola auto. He
was trying to manipulate and dominate me instead I’m is stakeholder. He just wanted
300 Rs to travel not even 4 kms.
That day I realized the auto drivers in Bangalore earn more than the IT employees. I
rather than going in the auto took that person near to the police who was in that
junction and asked him to speak to him. The auto driver was scared that his way of
cheating the customers was coming to an end. The auto driver showed the rate card to
the police officer and the police officer was shocked that he had been doing this
unethical business from a long period of time and people not having any option tend
to end up paying more than ever. The auto driver might have hated me a lot that day
as his morning unethical earnings were coming to an end. The police officer who was
present there thanked me for coming up to him and talking about the unethicality done
by the majestic auto rickshaw driver.
The rating that I would give myself in handling this situation is 8.5, I should have
given the auto driver to speak up his point on why he did that rate card, what was his
need and then I should have spoken to the police officer.

Hospital- The life saver or taker

Another individual story that I would love to talk about is the Hospital in which they
make money and not save lives.
My grandmother was Diagnosed with Cancer when she was in her third stage. My
Mom and me took her to a renowned hospital of Mangalore and wanted her to get
well soon. The hospital doctors were the PhD holders and they had all the certificates
displayed in their cabin. They made my granny take all the tests that weas required
and not required, I said not required as my granny was diagnosed with cancer rather
than treating her for the same their sending me and my mother to all the corners of the
hospital to get the tests done. And at last, we realized that this hospital just wants to
make money and nothing else. They just kept her in the ward told that she can’t live
much longer and just gave simple treatments. Mom realized this unethical attitude of
the doctors towards us and planned to shift the hospital.
And if I have to talk about the other hospital where we took my grandmother. The
hospital was so good. the doctors took care of my granny like their own mother.
Spoke to her and had fun with her. They even treated her well, she was happy I that
place unlike the previous one. The doctors extended her life by 2 months where in the
previous hospital they would have let her die without even treating her.
Sometimes situations teach you lessons, being a doctor having a code of conduct,
being a hospital for which they have been licensed to just make the cash is unethical. I
am telling this because I have the chance to say but there are so many people who go
through such kind of things daily. Who get dominated by such unethical people.
The rating that I would give myself in handling this situation is 8, I think I would have
done better if I would have spoken about these practices happening in the hospital to
the management, which I did not do. And made sure all the treatment that was to my
grand mother was beneficial to her.

2. Professional

Being a professional athlete in India is impossible

I don’t have a working experience as such so I would like to talk about the
professional life of being an athlete for 10 years. So whenever there is a competition,
it is the duty of the government to give you the daily and travelling allowance. And
with the help of these allowances, we could actually cut down our expenses. But our
officer who were taking care of all the financials are very selfish on their part. They
gave a daily allowance of around 100 rupees. In these years where you can’t travel
nor spend a day with 1000 rupees, they tend give us 100 rupees. The remaining
money is in their pockets, which never came out.
Whenever we travel it is our state officer’s duty to book tickets in advance to travel
to national competitions. But our officers used to not book the tickets till the day we
travel and be in the station. In the last moment they used to call us to the station and
make us sit in the station for about 8 hours till they figure out the train and when the
tickets. They don’t even give us food instead we are their responsibility. Once they
get the train details and luckily the tickets, they used to give one seat for three of the
athletes. We have to travel in one seat for three people for three to four days. If not
lucky at some situations they used to make us sleep near the toilets until some seats
are vacant. Not enough with all the trouble the stay that the other states government
used to be like the icing on the cake. I being an athlete who had a national event to
participate in slept in benches of classrooms with no electricity and no proper
washrooms, how do the government think we can perform our best, after going all the
situations my physical strength deteriorates to even get a medal.
And even if we perform better there are chances of us not being selected in any of the
thin gs due to sports politics. There is this instance where I got selected in the national
sports camp for the junior international competition, and this national camp was about
to take place in SAI. But just because I am a south Indian, I didn’t get selected, they
didn’t even see my performance but just because I’m not fit for the climate and food
habits of north India I was thrown out of the list. If they would have given me the
chance of attending the national camp, my life would have been so different, I was
ready to work hard and even do things out of my comfort zone, but no they didn’t take
me in.
Another sports instance where people have been unethical towards me is when I was
in my nationals in Gachibowli stadium of Telegana, I had thrown a lot far than they
measured. I got the first place I agree but I was just 0.02 cms far from a national
record. They cheated me by mishandling with the meters. Why so much unethicality, I
deserved a record that day bit I was deprived of my right that day. I had asked the
officers to check my throw again but they straight away said no and left the premises.
In such instances you lose hope, but I had this satisfaction that no matter I got the
record or not, I tried my best raise the issue to the officers. I would like to rate my
situation a 9 in this instance because whenever anything bad happened to me I tried
raising voices and no matter what didn’t let the fear of standing to wrong things
around me effect.
