VOCABULARY UNIT 2:

1. Below: In a lower position (than), under.


2. Early: Near the beginning of a period of time, or before the usual, expected, or
planned time.
3. Century: A period of 100 years.
4. Tried: Used many times before and proved to be successful.
5. Himself: Used to refer to a male object of a verb that is the same person or animal as
the subject of the verb.
6. Slowly: At a slow speed; not quickly.
7. Safety: A state in which or a place where you are safe and not in danger or at risk.
8. Equipment: The set of necessary tools, clothing, etc. for a particular purpose.
9. Selfie: A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a
smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
10. Feel: To experience something physical or emotional.
11. Memorable: Likely to be remembered or worth remembering.
12. Held: Kept or maintained.
13. Crowd: A large group of people who have come together.
14. Gardens: A piece of land next to and belonging to a house, where flowers and other
plants are grown, and often containing an area of grass.
15. Themselves: Used when the subject of the verb is "they" or a group of people, and
the object is the same group of people.
16. Farmer: Someone who owns or takes care of a farm.
17. Carpets: (A shaped piece of) thick material used for covering floors.
18. Mess: A dirty or untidy state of things or of a place.
19. Greatest: Large in amount, size, or degree.
20. Know: To have information in your mind.

in various sports such as tennis and football.
37. Apparently: Used to say you have read or been told something although you are not
certain it is true.
38. Jackpot: The largest prize in a competition or game.
39. Prize: Something valuable, such as an amount of money, that is given to someone
who succeeds in a competition or game or that is given to someone as a reward for
doing very good work.
40. Entire: Whole or complete, with nothing missing.
