Basketball is a source of entertainment for students and provides them with many
benefits. It helps them maintain high physical fitness and instills essential qualities
such as teamwork, coordination and concentration skills. Basketball also lets
people retain decent grades and offers a crack at financial gains. It's a game
student who will do well to be part of both before and during their school year.
Basketball has many advantages, particularly for the student. Basketball enhances
school life by delivering health benefits, emotional benefits, social benefits and
academic benefits where It can be an assistance to students. In Research Design I
use Descriptive design, Survey Design and Quantitative Design.

Introduction
What is basketball?
Basketball is a very competitive sport that was played by two teams of
usually five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court that has
the objective to shoot the basketball through the opponent hoop and preventing
the opponents to shoot in their own hoop.
Basketball is one of the most played sports in the world. It’s the favorite sports of
students, especially those students in college levels.
Where basketball begun?
Basketball is built into the fabric of Springfield College. The game was
invented by Springfield College instructor and graduate student James Naismith in
1891, and has grown into the worldwide athletic phenomenon we know it to be
today.
Who invented basketball?
James Naismith was a Canadian-American physical educator, physician,
Christian chaplain, sports coach, and innovator. The same year he left Canada for
Springfield, Massachusetts, he invented the game of basketball. He wrote the
original basketball rule book and founded the University of Kansas basketball
program.
Statistic of people who play basketball worldwide
According to FIBA, it is estimated that at least 450 million people play
basketball worldwide, ranging from licensed players to amateurs.

In the Philippines, nearly 40 million people (or 40 percent of the
population) play or have played basketball.

Basketball is a team sport in which players have to work together to
achieve success. A model student isn’t just excellent in learning but must also be
admirable. Students must learn the benefits of accomplishing tasks as a team as
opposed to trying to carry them out as a single unit. Basketball exposes students
to situations where they have to learn discipline and obedience to an authority
figure.
Social benefits
Popularity in School
Students who are good at basketball tend to enjoy a high level of popularity
in school, a scenario which tends to increase in tertiary institutions. They get to
make friends easily and have great communication skills.
You can Become a Professional Athlete
Students who play basketball don’t just have the opportunity to play on the
school team but can also go on to become professional athletes. Most of the NBA
stars started as college students playing the beautiful game at the college level

A Chance at a Scholarship
College athletes have the chance to get scholarships to educational
institutions with college basketball teams. The cost of getting a college education
doesn’t end with tuition fees alone, students have to tackle the cost of feeding,
textbooks, accommodation, and multiple other expenses. With student loans
offering a quick fix, many scholars fall into the temptation of incurring student
loans and its long-term financial implications. Due to the high cost of education,
many students have to take on after school jobs. A situation that sees them
working late into the night and getting too exhausted to study at the end of the
day. Playing basketball in college gives you the chance to get a scholarship, which
helps you to deal with the cost of tertiary institutions.
