Letter from the Executive Board

Dear Delegates

On behalf of the Executive Board, I welcome you to the simulation of the

Indian Premier League Auction at INTER DAV MUN 2021

First and foremost, what one must understand is that the delegates will
be representing the franchise or teams that are currently a part of the
prestigious Indian Premier League. Thus, you will be required to analyze
and prepare your strategies accordingly.

Secondly, we expect that the delegates will come informed about how
the IPL Auction takes place with no more than two franchises indulging in
the bid of an individual player. In case a third franchisee wants to join in,
they can join in but please maintain the decorum of the auction.

Delegates must come research about the past two years’ IPL Statistics
of the players as well as their current ICC Rankings for Men’s T20Is.
All the International, domestic, List A stats of the past year will also
be considered. If you are well researched about the player’s statistics
and form, be proactive during the auction.

Thirdly, delegates must keep in mind not to bid on players without a

strategy in mind, rather strategies on why you need the particular player
and for what position. Keep a track of the squad limit, overseas limit, and
the funds remaining with the franchise.

Most importantly, “value for player” should be the approach, rather than
overbidding on your favorite players. The franchise owners must comply
with the Rules of Procedure. Further, we would love to guide the
delegates for any help required and give you all an enriching experience.

INTRODUCTION TO THE COMMITTE

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket

league, contested by eight teams based out of eight different Indian cities.
The league was founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India
(BCCI) in 2007. The IPL is the most-attended cricket league in the world
and in 2014 was ranked sixth by average attendance among all sports
leagues. In 2010, the IPL became the first sporting event in the world to
be broadcast live on YouTube.

There have been thirteen seasons of the IPL tournament. The current IPL
title holders are the Mumbai Indians, who are also the most successful
team with 5 titles. Currently, with eight teams, each team plays each other
twice in a home-and-away round-robin format in the league phase.

Indian premier league auction is a simulation of the ipl auction where

delegates role-play the stakeholders (stakeholders are the officials who
represent the team and have the decision-making authority) of the ipl
teams and systematically bid in the auctions on the players they want to
buy for their team. strategy building, team build-up, and resource
management are the most important features for the committee. delegates
must strategize on their plans regarding which player they require with
respect to the position that hasn’t been filled in their squad. the
bench/substitutes must be such they could be replaced owing to any
player in the playing xi being injured or out of form.

● Max. and Min. 1 Vintage Legend Mandatory
● Base Price Vintage Legend 3 cr
● The 12th man has to be an Indian
● Total Purse per team 90 cr
