____________
c) Law of Definite Proportion
It states that a given compound always shows a fixed proportion. Since all atoms of the
same element have the same mass and atoms combine in affixed ratio small whole
number (1:1, 1:2), the mass ratio of elements in compounds is
fixed.___________________________________________________________________

Law of Conservation of Mass
It states that when an ordinary chemical reaction occurs, there is no change in the mass of
the substances involved before and after reaction. No new atoms are created and no old
ones are destroyed. Since the same atoms are present before and after a chemical
reaction, the total mass of the reactants and products must be the same.
