**. Correlation is significant at the 0.01 level (2-tailed).

A Pearson correlation coefficient test was computed to evaluate the relationship between a
students’ wise spending attitude and knowledge on money management. There was a positive
correlation between the two variables, r = 0.681, n = 15, p = 0.005. Overall, there was a strong,
positive correlation between wise spending and money management knowledge. This shows
that when a student’s knowledge in money management grows, they become wiser on their
spending habits as well.

b. Computed only for a 2x2 table

A Chi-square test of independence was calculated comparing the frequency of a student’s

spending habit on wants and their family’s tolerance on their spending habits. The results of the
test show there was no significant difference between the two variables (X2= 0.579, df= 1, n=
15, p= 0.447). Thus, accepting the null hypothesis that families do tolerate the spending habits
of students.
