Time : 2½ Hours] [Maximum Marks : 75

Before answering the question-paper candidates

should ensure that they have been supplied to correct
and complete question-paper. No complaint, in this
regard, will be entertained after the examination.

Note : Attempt Four questions in all. All questions

carry equal marks.

(3)M-C515 1
1. (a) Why does a pure semiconductor behave
like an insulator at absolute zero
temperature ?
(b) What is the need of doing biasing in
transistor circuit ?
(c) The collector and base current of npn
transistor are measured as IC = 5 mA,
IB = 50 A and ICBO = 1 A. Determine
the value of ,  and IE.
(d) Define ripple factor. What is the use of
calculating ripple factor in a rectifier
circuit ?
(e) An amplifier has a voltage amplification
Av and a fraction mv at its output is
feedback in opposition to the input. If
mv = 0.1. and Av = 100, calculate the
percentage change in the gain of the
system if Av falls 6 dB due to aging.
