At the time, the Philippines had no freedom since it was under Spanish
colonial control. The Spaniards managed every move of the Filipinos. In their own
land, Filipinos have become slaves. Capital is mightier than integrity. They will kill you
in front of a lot of people if you have the strength. You'll be referred to by several
Mausers.

6. To whom the poem is addressed? Explain your answer.

-It is meant to awaken us, The Filipinos from the sacrifices they have given to
us.

7. How do you feel while reading the poem, that Padre Faura witnessed the
execution
of his former student?
-I felt sad because Father Faura saw it equally and he didn't have the guts to
save his pupil and he didn't have the control to interrupt the execution. I feel sorry

8. What was the feeling displayed by the author in the poem?

-There was a shivering Padre Faura. The possible explanation why he was
shivering was that he was afraid that Rizal would be executed too. After that, prior to
the execution, he claimed the mood and state of Rizal.
