Supply Chain Fundamentals:

1. Supply Chain Network - Behind every product there is a supply network.


 The same is with packaging behind every product there is a package.
 Supply Chain is a network of companies, located in different countries, involved in
product design, manufacture & delivery to customers.
 Components may be sourced from several different countries, assembled in
another country, and distributed to the customers all over the world.
 Network coordination becomes important.
 Global Supply Chain Management -
1. Horizontal Globalization - MNCs duplicate the same activities in multiple
countries.
2. Vertical Globalization - Firms locate different stages of production in
different countries.
o Basic Difference between two:
 Horizontal integration always occurs at the same stage on supply chain.
 Vertical integration always occurs in different stages of supply chain.
