Assess the advantages and disadvantages of quantitative/qauliatative data:

To answer these questions impressively you must be very systematic in the way you structure your
answer.

Most of your analyses is done when you talk about the different advantages and disadvantages.

However to show complexity in your answer, the more you divide your information up the better the
answer will be.

 You can break up your answer into theory: by explaining positivists like quantitative methods
and Interpretivists like qualitative methods.
 You can break up your answers into primary methods vs secondary methods
 Break up your dis/advantages into validity, reliability, ethics, representativeness, practicality,
and objectivity.
 Use as many research examples as you can.

Bonus: When asked to compare with each other, always end your answer with a paragraph on
triangulation and how using a single method isn't really necessary.

To answer a question on quantitative data you must talk about questionnaires, structured interviews,
experiments, official statistics, at least.

To answer a question on qualitative data you must talk about informal interviews, observations, and the
use of diaries at least.
