Summary
PowerFlex 750-Series: Accessing parameters over Modbus RTU

Question
When my PowerFlex 755 is controlled on Modbus RTU, for example when using a MicroLogix 1100 / 1400, how
do I setup my 20-COMM-H module to achieve this, and how do I interpret the value?

Does the 20-COMM-H need to be set to 32-bit when used with a PowerFlex 755?

Answer
The application note attached details how to access parameters on the PowerFlex 755 drive when controlled
over Modbus RTU, using the 20-COMM-H adapter within the comms card carrier 20-750-20COMM. It also
details how to convert / interpret the value of the parameter.

This document should be read in conjunction with AID 42643 - PowerFlex 70. How to control on Modbus RTU
with a MicroLogix 1100, which details how to setup the MicroLogix for control of a 7 class drive. In addition
there are some limitations when controlling a drive on Modbus RTU, which are detailed in AID 61517 - Control a
PowerFlex 4-Class Drive on Modbus RTU with Explicit Messages. Although originally written for PowerFlex 4
class drives, it also applies to PowerFlex 7 class drives. Whilst the attached document shows a MicroLogix
1400 being used as a Modbus rtu master, the example should work in a similar way for any Modbus rtu master.
