Answer the following questions in detail:

1. How did the British establish the three presidencies in India? They made Fort St George, in
Madras. After some time they also made a factory in Calcutta named Fort William. This allowed
them to take control of vital trading points to the Indian economy.
2. Mention any three reasons for the British success in winning the wars in India. The British had
better artillery and military than the Indian forces. They had a stronger Navy. They could take action
on their own command in war while the Indians were fighting against themselves.
