Camogli is a small town on the Italian Coast. In the past, the fishermen of Camogli used
to paint their houses in bright colors and unusual designs so they can see them from the
water. This town is famous for a special art called trompe l'oeil (trick the eyes). In Camogli
things look real but they are not: they are just paintings on the walls. In the video, there
are two trompe l'oeil artists: Raffaella and Carlo. Raffaella practiced trompe l'oeil art for
20 years and she uses old and modern painting styles. Carlos uses only traditional
painting styles because he wants to protect trompe l'oeil traditions. However, it is very
difficult to be a trompe l'oeil artist.
