Macro Perspective of Tourism and Hospitality

TASK PERFORMANCE

Majestic Seven Falls (Dongon 7 Falls)

– Lake Sebu, South Cotabato

Information about The Seven Falls site

The Seven Falls site a.k.a. “Dongon 7 Falls” is an enchanting attraction in Lake Sebu. It’s a series
of majestic falls that were uniquely cascaded together by Mother Nature. All seven of them
form a charming and breathtaking sight. Their majestic beauty got even more magnified by the
vivid colors of the lush green plants and trees surrounding them. These wonderful plants only
make up a small portion of the flourishing forests in the area which are abundant in the whole
region. It’s great to escape in this paradise that is well-preserved by its people. Mindanao, the
Philippines' second largest island, is home to some of the country's most magnificent waterfalls.

Sustainability issues observed

TBOLI, SOUTH COTABATO — Seven Falls Eco-Tourism Site located in Lake Sebu is the top tourist
attraction site in South Cotabato for the first semester of 2021, according to the Arts, Culture, Tourism
and Museum (ACTM) Unit report on top tourist attraction sites from January to June 2021 that was
presented to Municipal Tourism Officers during their recent meeting at Tboli Cultural Village, Barangay
Lemsnolon, this municipality.

Seven Falls, located in the municipality of Lake Sebu, is a popular tourist destination in South Cotabato.
It is a lovely setting accentuated by seven cascading waterfalls set against a backdrop of lush animals.
Generally located inside a T'boli settlement, each waterfall is named by a T'boli feature. The Hikong Alu,
which translates as "Passage," is the first waterfall. It is 35 feet tall and runs to Hikong Bente, or the
Second Falls. Hikong Bente, which translates as incomprehensible, is regarded the tallest and most
magnificent of the seven falls. Both of these waterfalls are easily accessible and seen from the zipline.
Hikong Blebed (Zigzag), the third waterfall, Hikong Lowig (Booth), the fourth waterfall, Hikong K'foi
(Wildflower), the fifth waterfall, Hikong Ukol (Short), the sixth waterfall, and Hikong Tonok (Soil), the
seventh waterfall, are all visible only from atop the zipline or from afar. To reach the remaining falls, a
walk through the Seven Falls Forest and its strenuous route may be required. Thus, the Seven Falls
Development Project's principal objective. Although there are currently amenities that cater to tourist
demands such as ziplines, gazebos, restaurants, and pasalubong stores, there is still opportunity for
more development to really make a visit to Seven Falls memorable. The project will develop the Seven
Falls Trail, including benches, a foot bridge, railings, and signs, as well as construct T'boli Houses that will
serve as housing facilities, a View Deck, a Canopy Walk, and a Cable Car with its multi-purpose structure.

The amenities will contribute to each tourist's overall ecocultural adventure experience at the Seven
Falls.

Seven Falls wrested the top spot om Strawberry & Guyabano or SG Farm, a newly opened Nature/Farm
Resort in Sitio Glandang, Barangay Kablon, Tupi, the province’s top tourist destination for 2020.

Farm is now settled in second place after consistent top tourist attraction site Seven Falls recovered the
top spot. Placing among the top ten attraction sites are Necitas Lagoon (Norala), Sunrise Garden Lake
Resort (Lake Sebu), Mambukal Hot Spring Resort (Koronadal City), Our Lady of Divine Mercy Shrine (Lake
Sebu), Lantaw Garrido (Norala), The Dreamweavers Hill (Lake Sebu), Punta Isla Lake Resort (Lake Sebu),
RMM Zipline & Eco-Tourism Park (Koronadal City).

Tourism Officers of the 11 LGUs together with ACTM staff noted that Norala LGU significantly improved
their tourist arrivals.

Seven Falls has displaced Strawberry & Guyabano Farm, a newly established Nature/Farm Resort in Sitio
Glandang, Barangay Kablon, Tupi, as the province's top tourist attraction for 2020. SG Farm is a newly
built Nature/Farm Resort in Sitio Glandang, Barangay Kablon, Tupi.

Norala LGU was lagging behind for the past years but resorts that sprouted recently contributed to the
increasing visitors in the province after the lull suffered due to the CoViD-19 Pandemic that started last
year.

Solutions, recommendations, and goals to solve the listed sustainability issues In the
destination/attraction

In order for the initiatives to be successful, the Seven Falls in Lake Sebu must collaborate with other
tourist stakeholders in the area. It is doubtful that the tourist product development of the 7falls would
be efficient or functional without the cooperation of stakeholders. The project's competitiveness and
productivity will increase in the long term if the project's partners collaborate closely with tourist sector
stakeholders such as accommodation, food, and transportation suppliers. Without the engagement of
stakeholders, their tourist product creation is doomed to fail. This need for tourist growth requires
holding open talks and correctly discussing tourism market shares. Stakeholders in the travel industry
must work together to exchange information and insights in order to gain a better understanding of
passengers. Local communities have an important role in the development and sustainability of tourist
destinations, particularly when it comes to tourism goods. Through their pleasant attitudes and greater
hospitality, host towns add to tourism's attraction.

Many people like visiting the seven waterfalls at Lake Sebu, and they should be aware of this, but there
is a catch. As a result of the journey, several visitors reported feeling less comfortable. The ropes were
being held together by just one person. As a result, they believe that situations like these, when there is
a high danger of harm to the other person, should be carefully checked.

There is also no resting place, which is especially crucial in a walking tourist location like Seven Falls,
where visitors are expected to trek for miles. A resting space should be given since it is a walking
destination, and in order to make tourists feel comfortable and to provide them with a resting spot

when they grow tired, a resting area should be available. That place is one that I've visited many times
before. My visits to Seven Falls in Lake Sebu have been many, and I don't remember any negative
experiences with the attraction. Because every member of the staff is very kind and friendly to
everyone, it's simply that way.
