EXERCISE1:
A photon with wavelength 𝜆 =550 nm Find :E ,𝜈, 𝜏, where
h=6.6x10−34 J.s ,and C=3x108 m/s
EXERCISE2:
Estimate the wave length and the intensity of the radiation emitted
by a glowing tungsten filament whose surface temperature is 3300
K?
EXERCISE3: (Photoelectric effect)(estimation of the Planck
constant)
When two ultraviolet beams of wavelength λ1= 80 nm and λ2= 110
nm fall on a lead the produce photoelectrons with maximum
energies 11.390 ev and 7.154 ev, respectively.
a- Estimate the numerical value of the Planck constant.
b- Calculate the work function, the cutoff frequency, and the cutoff
wavelength of lead.
EXERCISE4
Find the required energy to stimulate electronic motion with
a- periodic time t=10−12 s , h=6.6x10−34 J.s
b- periodic time t=10−14 s
EXERCISE 5
If the work function of Chrome = 4.4 eV
a- estimate the kinetic energy for the emitted electrons ,if the
wavelength of incident light =𝜆 = 2000 𝐴∘
b- estimate the stopping potential of these electrons

EXERCISE 6
Estimate the wavelength from De Broglie if :
a-the kinetic energy = 200 eV ,
b- the kinetic Energy =6x 105 eV
where 𝑚𝑒 = 9.1x 10−31 Kg , 𝑚𝑝 = 1.67x 10−27 Kg ,1eV =
1.6x 10−19 J

EXERCISE 7

Light of a wavelength λi=5893A° falls on the surface of potassium


and the stopping potential is 0.36 v.

Calculate:-

a- Maximum kinetic energy of an emitted electron.

b- The work function of the emitted electron.

c- Threshold frequency (critical frequency)

EXERCISE 8

For light incident on the surface of a metal at a wavelength λi=6.8


10A° , calculate the frequency of the incident light and the critical
frequency of the metal. Explain the probability of the phenomenon
occurring. Use ρ = 2.4 ev

EXERCISE 9

Photon of wavelength λi=1.000A° colliding with an isolated and


stationary electron. Calculate the wavelength of the scattered photon
if it is known to bounce back after the collision.

EXERCISE 10

If the work function of chromium is when light of wavelength equal


to w= 4.4 ev . falls
