ART APPRECIATION MIDTERM ACTIVITIES

1. GETTING TO KNOW YOU THROUGH ART – “The way you write reflects the
way you think; the way you think and do reflects the way you are.” Write a short
essay about yourself and how you view art. You may write in any form (and in any
way) about what you want to share about yourself and your experience of art.
Minimum of 250 words, maximum of 500 words.
2. ART, SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY – Write a thought piece on Spirkin’s essay,
“Philosophy and Art.” Minimum of 250 words.
3. APPRECIATING NATURE – Observe and analyze these different natural landscapes
and compare them with the artistic creations of these artists. Write a thought piece on
its differences and similarities. Minimum of 250 words. (Attached here are the
artworks/images for reference: Aivazovsky - The Ninth Wave; Bierstadt - Among the
Sierra Nevada; El Nido, Palawan Lagoon; Panorma Shot of Lustrafjord, Norway)

TITLE
Name
Course and Section

This will be the format of your papers.

The TITLE (can be a personalized title if you want or simply the title I provided)
should be CAPITALIZED and in a BOLD typeface.

The Name and Course and Section in Sentence Case and is in a Normal typeface.

These preliminary details are without spaces and is Right aligned.

A bar under Course and Section. This can be done by typing an underscore
continuously until it fills the entire line and then press Enter.

The paragraphs should be always indented by using the ruler on top of the document.
Move the first line indent marker half an inch. It should also be spaced by 1.5 pts. The
font and font size will be Palatino Linotype or Times New Roman 12, and its alignment
must be Justified. Also, please place Add Space Before Paragraph.

If you are going to cite quotes or ideas from materials that are not provided in class,
please cite properly. You may use MLA, APA, or Chicago-Turabian Citation Styles. If
you are not knowledgeable in citing sources or in doubt, make it sure that the citation is
bearable and understandable. If worse, forget about it.

Finally, each activity should be submitted as a separate document and not one
document with all the activities combined.

You will submit them via MS Teams under an Assignment that will be assigned in
the Activities and Exams Channel in our team.

Again, this will be the format of your papers. It looks nice. Isn’t it?
