INTRODUCTION

Machinefabriek L. Straatman was established in 1902 in the Netherlands. The company grew rapidly,
both in the kettle construction and ship repair market. Over the years, the organisation developed
sophisticated products for the dredging, fabrication, oil & gas and maritime industry. Straatman is well
known for its reliable and high-quality quick release mooring & towing equipment and related solutions.

QUALITY
At the factory in the Netherlands, Straatman has in-house design, engineering, production and testing
facilities so as to have full control over the entire production process. This is the main reason why
Straatman is able to fully assure the quality of its products and solutions.
EXPERIENCE
Straatman has designed, produced and developed its products for the maritime industry for more
than fifty years. Over this period, our products and solutions have been installed all over the world in
a wide range of industries. Our products have proven their worth in practice, making Straatman a
leading manufacturer of mooring equipment, dredging components and solar solutions.

SOLAR POWER SYSTEMS

GREEN AUTONOMOUS POWER SUPPLY

Are you in the situation where a regular power supply system that uses cables and polluting genera-
tors, is not preferred or even impossible? Straatman has the solution!

Machinefabriek L. Straatman has developed a sustainable Solar energy solution. This ‘green’ auto-
nomous power supply system with virtually no downtime, allows you to power almost any system on
remote or offshore applications. The smallest details can be monitored through a real-time data log-
ging system to plan preventive maintenance and ensure all units are always operational and 100%
safe. While the use of solar panels by itself is not that innovative, the low power consumption and its
intrinsic safety make the system revolutionary.

Power supply and control of:

 Buoy systems
 Hydraulic valves
 Mooring dolphins
 Offshore applications
 Ball joints (on barges)
 Sensors on remote locations
 Construction areas
 LNG Berths

Benefits of Straatman solar

power systems:
 Guaranteed availability of power
 No more damaged power cables
 Intrinsic safety (ATEX/IecEX)
 Low maintenance
 Reduction of energy costs
 Environmental contribution
 Robust design
 No need for fuel
 Fits perfectly in the vision of sustainability
 Increases safety
 Remote monitoring

POWER SUPPLY FOR DOLPHINS

AUTONOMOUS POWER FOR DOLPHINS

For decades, power cables have been installed on the

bottom of the harbour or sea to provide mooring dolphins
with electricity allowing them to power energy-intensive
capstans, for example.

The fact that installing, securing and protecting these

cables is an intensive and high-risk operation aside, these
cables are often damaged by anchors or during dredging
activities. This leads to situations where either the moor-
ing equipment cannot be used or mooring operations can
not be executed safely. Moreover, the costs and risks of
repairing the damages are both considerable and un-
desirable. This makes our solar solution a perfect alternative.

Straatman’s team of highly skilled and motivated engineers has spent a lot of time improving the
first design. Several areas were identified to improve the solar system, such as optimizations for
installation, reduction of the size, and integration of working lights and navigation lights.
With over 40 years experience in the marine and offshore market, we know better than anyone that
the choice of the material is important. The robust design of these solar solutions makes the units ideal
for the harshest environments with very low maintenance cost.

Specifications:
Solar power : up to 1060 Watt Peak
Output voltage : 24 or 48 V DC
Battery cap. : 1,5 to 31,7 kW
Battery type : GEL Solar Battery
Operating temp. : -15 °C - +40 °C
IP class E-box : IP 66

POWER SUPPLY FOR BUOYS

SOLAR POWER SUPPLY ON BUOYS

For buoy applications, we can supply a solar power supply sys-
tem, to feed the automatic release system, navigation aid, AIS
transmitter or work light for example. The system is designed for
the harshest weather conditions like sea spray and heavy wind.
Our system will be supplied as an easy to mount all-in-one skid
(prewired and tested).
The system can be installed stand-alone or in combination with
our mooring hooks and telemetry system.

Specifications:
Solar power : up to 600 Watt Peak
Output voltage : 24 V DC
Battery cap. : 1,5 to 8 kW
Battery type : GEL Solar Battery
Operating temp. : -15 °C - +40 °C
IP class E-box : IP 66

Options:
 ATEX zone 2 or ATEX zone 1
 Data logging through Lora, GPRS or UHF
 Remote control (telemetry)

CONNECT AND CONTROL YOUR SYSTEMS

Our advanced telemetry system let you control your system remotely.
It allows you to control the devices on your buoy and shows all sensor data
on your screen. In combination with our tablet (optionally ATEX zone 1) all
the necessary data is available at any time.

All our systems can be equipped with data loggers connected with GPRS,
LoRa or UHF. These advanced systems are supplied by our strategic partner
FactoryLab. The applications are especially designed for remote monitoring.
It shows you real-time status, use and sensor data from the buoy.
