Hello? Am I audible? Do you hear me?

“Yes, ma’am”
Is my voice loud and clear?
“Yes, ma’am”
Is everybody already here?
“Yes, ma’am”

Okay, wait for a while I’ll record the meeting, and let me
download the attendance first

Before we start the class, kindly turn on your

cameras. There you go, I’m now seeing beautiful and
handsome faces. [Students will turn on their cameras]

May I see your best smile? [students will smile]

How are you guys? Are you all doing well?
“Yes ma’am.”
How is your day going? Ms. Barrozo?
“It’s fine ma’am, there are a lot of tasks, but
we can do it on time”
How about you Mr. Victorio?

It’s okay ma’am. We’re able to survive each day”

Good to hear that. I know that this pandemic

makes learning a bit difficult, but I believe in you
guys that you can survive it. Just keep on doing
your best, okay?

“Yes ma’am”

So, let’s start. Anyone who would like to

volunteer and lead the prayer?

[Marvie will volunteer]

Yes, Ms. Marvie.

“Let us pray. In the Name of the Father and of the

Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Dear Lord and
Father of all, thank you for today. Thank you for
how you provide to us all. For your protection and
love, we thank you. Help us focus our hearts and
minds now on what we are about to learn. Inspire
us by your Holy Spirit as we listen and write. Guide
us by your eternal light as we discover more about
the world around us. We ask all this in the name of
Jesus. Amen.”

Thank you so much.

Good afternoon class!

[everyone will unmute their microphone and will
say]
“Good afternoon, Ma’am”

So far, there are no absentees for today. Good Job,

everyone!

B. Review/Recall
Now, let us have a recall.

Does anyone still remember what was our

previous lesson?

[ DIESA will raise her hand using the raise

button]
Yes, Ms. Areola?

“Our previous lesson was all about Verbs and

how they’re used to express emotional
responses”

Yes, very good. What’s the meaning of a verb

again?
[Grace will unmute her microphone and will
say, ma’am]

Who’s speaking?
“Grace ma’am”
Okay, Go ahead Grace

“Verbs are words that describe an action or talk

about something that happens.”

Yes, exactly. How about the types of verbs that

can be used in expressing emotional responses?
What are those?
[Wendell will raise his hand using the raise button]

Yes, Mr. Aquino, you are raising your hand.

‘There are two types of verbs that can be used in

expressing emotional responses, ma’am. We have
the Linking Verbs and Modals”
Kindly, expand on what are these types, Mr.
Aquino?

“Yes, ma’am”

Linking Verbs. This verb links or connects the

subject to its predicate. The predicate states or tells
information about the subject which could be an
emotion or a description.
Okay, very good. Let me give you a quick recap.
Examples of linking verbs are believe, was, were,
think, disagree.
If we are going to put the verb “disagree” in a
sentence.
For example:
No, Noel. I strongly disagree. You should follow
what I tell you.
(The verb disagree states the stand of the speaker.
Emphasizing a stand is a good way in influencing
someone to agree with your ideas.) With that,
through the verb used, emotional response was
expressed.

How about modals? Anyone?

[Gab will raise her hand using the raise button]

Yes, Ms. Del Rosario?

“These are verbs that express suggestion or

recommendation which is an effective way to
convince or persuade, ma’am”
Exactly. Examples of modal are could, should,
ought to, etc. Okay, I’m glad that you can still
recall our topic yesterday. It seems like you’ve
learned a lot from our past lessons. Well, that’s
great.

C. Motivation

Before anything else, let’s have an activity first.

This is just a simple activity so don’t be nervous.
Okay?

“Yes, Ma’am”
Here is the instruction. I’ll be showing 3 video clips
from Filipino Movies/Teleserye. Then you’ll
provide an adjective word on what do you feel in
the video clip presented. Please prepare a piece of
paper and a pen because everybody will answer.
You’re going to write your answer and show it in
the class, like this. Do you understand?
“Yes, Ma’am”
By the way here’s the twist, I prepared a picker
wheel then you’re going to imitate the adjective
word that you answer. Is that okay?
“Yes, Ma’am”
Let’s begin.

1st video clip

Kapalit-palit ba ko?
What do you feel in that particular scene?
[students will write their answer and show it]
Show to us…

2nd video clip

Kris Aquino Horror Scream
How about this one?
[students will write their answer and show it]
Kindly imitate your answer...

3rd video clip

Aldub

Who are aldub fans here? Hahaha

Kindly show me a quick pabebe wave, kidding
aside.
So, what do you feel about this one? [students will write their answer and show it]
Show to us.
That’s it. All of your answers are correct. Give
yourself a virtual clap. You are all great. Did you
enjoy the activity?

Really? I’m glad to hear that.

“Yes, Ma’am”
Please be settled. May I request everyone to mute
your microphone to avoid unnecessary noises?
You may unmute it later on once I ask you
questions. If you want to say something, please use [students will mute their microphone]
the raise button, and I’ll let you speak. Is that clear?

“Yes, Ma’am”

D. Lesson Presentation
Let me share my screen now. Here you go. Is my
presentation already visible on your end?
“Yes, Ma’am”
Anyone who wants to read the following sentences:
1. I feel sad that some people waste their time on
social media.
2. Parents feel happy when they bond with their
children.
3. Reading books is better than playing mobile
games.
[Rafaela will raise her hand using raise button]
Yes, Ms. Fonseca. Kindly, read.

[read]
As you can see there is an underlined word in each
sentence. Right? Are you familiar with those
words?
Yes, Ma’am
So, what are these words? Any idea? Don’t
hesitate to recite guys. Feel free to share.

[Diesa will raise her hand using raise button]

Yes, Ms. Areola.
“Adjectives, ma’am”
Exactly. They are called adjectives which are
words that describe or modify another person or
thing in the sentence.
For example:
Ana is beautiful. [Here the adjective word is beautiful,
the adjective word beautiful modify or describes the
noun, Ana.] Gets?
[like button]
Take note that the underlined words are adjectives
which express emotions.

Let me ask you, have you ever encountered any

issues that you want to give your opinion? Were
you able to communicate your feelings? Does
anyone want to share?
[Isabel will raise his hand using the raise button]
Yes, Isabel?
There are times that it is difficult to communicate,
especially our emotions and feelings. Based on my
experience, I struggle a lot with choosing the right
words to express what I feel in a particular
situation. Yes, I always wanted to give my opinions
and thoughts but, because of so many factors, I’m
not confident enough to share.
Yes, another thing is that there might also be
moments that made you feel that it is difficult to
express your ideas, especially in English. Thus, our
today’s topic will help you learn different ways on
how to use the appropriate adjectives in
communicating your emotions and reactions to
certain issues.

Again, our topic for today is USING

ADJECTIVES TO EXPRESS EMOTIONAL
RESPONSES. A while ago, you have learned that
adjectives describe nouns and pronouns. This time,
you will learn a set of adjectives that helps tell your
emotion on a certain issue.

Below are the adjectives that are used to show

positive and negative emotions.
First, we have:

Please read, Ms. Jovez

[Jennina will unmute her microphone and will
read]
Thank You.
Let’s take a look at the given examples. First, we
have happy. We tend to feel happy if something
good came out, or there’s better news. Right?
Besides that, we often make smile at someone
because we feel happy same as with the adjective
word “glad”.
For example:
We are so happy that you were able to come to the
party.
(In this sentence, the word happy describes a
positive feeling of the person to his friend because
he was able to attend the party.] The adjective word
happy was used to express the feeling of the person
to someone he’s talking to.

Next, the adjective word “delighted” means that

you are extremely pleased and excited about
something.
For example:
As your friend, I will be delighted if you share your
problems with me.
[In this sentence, the word delighted describes the
positive feeling of the person about being able to
listen to his or her friend’s problems.]

Another one is the adjective word “satisfied”

which is used to express the feeling of being
contented because you have gotten what you
wanted, or because something has happened in the
way that you wanted.
For example:
I am satisfied with everything.
[I am satisfied. I used the adjective word satisfied
to express that I feel contented, I am already
happy with everything that I have.

Is that clear?
“Yes, ma’am”
Except for the given examples flashed on the
screen, what adjective words do you know that
shows positive emotions?

Ms. Areola?
[Diesa will unmute her microphone]

“Nice and Enjoyable, ma’am”

What else?
[Mica will unmute her microphone]

“Bright and Determined, ma’am”

Correct. Who answered that?
“Mica Ella Estrada, ma’am”
Okay, thank you.

Moving forward, we have:

Who wants to read?

[Faye will raise her hand using the raise button]
Go ahead, Ms. Faye.

[read]
Okay. So in the given examples let’s have the
adjective word sad. We tend to feel this negative
emotion because something bad happened or bad
news just came out.
For Example:
George was sad that he had not won.
[In this sentence, the word sad describes the
negative emotion that George felt when he had not
won]
See how the adjective word “sad” can describe
what George felt when he didn’t win.

Another word is regretful, wherein it is a feeling

or showing of regret. We usually
feel regretful when we have sudden decisions that
end up wrong.
Let’s use it in a sentence:
Some teenagers are regretful that they were not
able to spend time with their friends before the
Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
[The word regretful emphasizes the teenagers’
negative emotion on not being able to be with their
friends before the ECQ]

Please take note of the following because later

on, you’ll be having your quiz.

“Yes, ma’am”
I have here a sample paragraph and let’s observe
the underlined adjectives.
Let me read it to you.
In the 1st sentence, the adjectives best and worst
are used to describe the positive and negative
circumstances that a person could experience in a
day.

In the 3rd sentence, the word embarrassed is used

to describe the feelings of young people towards
sharing their thoughts with their parents.
In the 4th sentence, the word guilty is used to
describe the feeling of parents being too busy at
work even when at home.

In the last sentence, the words better and stronger

are used to motivate the reader to create a bond
with their parents rather than spending time with
technology.

Do you notice how adjectives are a great help in

expressing our emotions/responses? Imagine
without these adjectives, is it possible to express
our emotions or responses to somebody? Not,
right? We can’t tell what we wanted to say. I am,
what? I feel, what? By using adjective words, we
can express our thoughts clearly and help someone
understand how we feel. These words can also
potentially affect those you're speaking about and
speaking with. That's why it's always important to
choose our words carefully.
Note that, for us to be understood, we should know
the appropriate word to use. Particularly, when
we're trying to express our emotions to avoid
confusion and misunderstandings. Always
remember that.

That’s it for today! Any questions?

E. Generalization “None, ma’am”

If that’s the case, may I ask, what have you

learned from our lesson today? Kindly share
something. Feel free to click the raise button if
you want to answer. [Marvie will raise her hand using the raise
button]
Yes, Ms. Puzon?
I have learned that adjectives have a great factor
specifically in describing what we feel about a
certain issue, ma’am.
That’s right. How about the others?
[Jayson will raise his hand using the raise button]
Go ahead. Mr. Hermogino?
I have learned that by the use of adjectives we’re
able to convey our opinions and responses to
somebody and there will be no sort of
misunderstandings, ma’am.

That’s Right! It seems like you listened and

gave your attention in our today’s lesson. Keep
it up, class.
F. Application

To test further whether you understand our

topic, we will have an activity, again.

The activity is entitled “Make a Caption”

As you can see there’s a picture. The picture shows

a family, but they are not talking to each other for
they are focusing on their phones. Express what
you feel about the picture in three (3) sentences
using adjectives. I’ll give you 2 minutes to
construct your sentences. Later on, you’ll share it
with the class.

The time starts now!

[Start of the activity]

Times Up!

Is everybody done already?

“Yes, Ma’am”
Who wants to volunteer first to present his/her
work?
[Isabel will unmute her microphone and will say “I
volunteer ma’am]
Yes. Ms. Barrozo?
“I feel sad ma’am that they are all focused on their
gadgets. Supposed to be they’re spending time
together because they’re complete but turns out to
get their attention on their phone."

Who else wants to share?

[Gabrielle will unmute her microphone and will
say, I volunteer ma’am]
Yes, proceed. Ms. Gabrielle?
“Their set-up is boring wherein they’re not talking
with one another; all their attention was on their
gadgets. It is much better and feels happy if they
are talking and enjoying each other’s company.”
Very Good! Who else wants to share?
[Rafaela will unmute her microphone and will say
ma’am)
Go ahead, Ms. Fonseca?
“I also feel sad ma’am, because they’ve got the
chance to be complete and have their quality yet,
they’re not valuing it they are focused on their
phones which is not a good idea and can’t do
good."
That’s right. I hope that you’re not going to
practice that in your home, focusing on your
phones and all. Okay?
“Yes, Ma’am”
I like to commend you all for a job well done. You
are all participative today.

G. Evaluation

Before I end the class, I would like to inform

you that you’ll have your quiz right after our
meeting. So, I’ll provide the link later on and
you need to submit it in about 30 minutes.

“Yes, Ma’am”

And another thing, I will also provide the link

for your assignment and will be submitted
tomorrow. Okay?
“Yes, Ma’am”

write a paragraph using adjectives. It is all
about your opinion on the topic presented on
our screen. [mention the topic]
